The Tall Fortified buildings are now available!
Fancy pictures will be on the way soon - I didn't want to pull one out of stock to paint it up until I had a few more ready.

The replacement prints for the High Gothic buildings arrived this week and they're looking much better than the first batch. I'm working on cleaning them up and preparing the new molds.

Cheers!
-Chris

Just a quick update to say that the High Gothic buildings and Upper Level kits are molded, finished and ready for sale!

This means that everything from the Kickstarter is now updated, restocked and on sale. If you missed the Kickstarter, all the goodies from the campaign are ready and waiting for you!

Cheers,
-Chris

I wanted to avoid posted multiple times in a row in my own thread (it seems a bit...ungentlemanly) but I was excited to show you the finished design for the Gothic Flak Tower, as well as some very early mockups of another big project.

The footprint on this one is 16 x 16 cm - as big as four Medium buildings put together!

While it's not beyond my capabilities to cast, right now I don't have a good way to model or print something quite as small as the guns, so the turrets in place on the towers are just mockups. For the moment, it's BYOH(ydra).

A view from the battlements:

I'm working on a new plan for casting buildings this large, since even for an experienced modeller getting every single wall and column aligned while building the thing would be a giant pain. The basic plan is that the central hub will be one piece, hollow on the inside to keep it light. The roof (and those for the towers) are separate pieces. Each tower will also be a single piece, or possibly with one wall separate depending on how I need to set up the mold geometry. I've planned it out so that even a little variation in how each part turns out shouldn't effect the final assembly.

While there aren't actually that many unique new parts, if there's demand for it I should be able to sell some of the wall sections individually for the hardcore builder.

And lastly, here's a (very) early view of what my next big building might look like. Let me know what you think, or what you might like to see!

Wonderful flak tower mate the only things I'd like to see on this model would be an access hatch for the crew/loaders to each gun position and maybe an ammo supply hatch/feed chute of some kind.

New project, a church I'm guessing. :)

Well executed as always. Nice level of detail with strength to withstand playing. Not fussed about the clinging on to Goth-design and skullz. But then again. That seems to be what the kids want ;)

Hmm, very interesting. By the way, have you also considered doing some larger scale stuff?

I was working on this next one last night, and by the time I stopped for a break I realized it was 3 AM...
Working out a plan for how it will be printed and cast was a little tricky, but I think I've worked it out. Not sure yet how much it will cost, however. This one might end up shelved for a while if demand doesn't match the price for printing.

Simple mockups for an Epic base and Rhino, for scale. The footprint is the same as a Medium building (80x80 mm). I think I've got it down to two main pieces, plus the pipes which will need to be done separately and would come on their own sprue. Might go back and tone it down with the skulls a bit - this may be too much even for me :P

I was inspired by a model from the Cities of Death book that some of you might remember. The indentation on top is sized to hold a 25mm base so you can use whatever suitably impressive 40k-sized figure you want as the statue.

I have one of these guys in my bits box just waiting to be painted up in bronze:

@moredakka: It seems we think alike! Right now I finished the render with the standard Parapet roof. Once I figure out a plan for the tower guns, I thought I might do up a new roof with an integral mounting point and crew hatches, ammo lifts, etc.

@Nitpick: I've been on a bit of a grimdark design kick recently, but I do have plans for more industrial or high tech looking stuff. Unfortunately it's not quite at the stage where I'm happy with it and can show it off. I want to do some structures like the kind found in foundries or refineries, but I'm grappling with the best way to represent such spindly, open and detailed structures while still making it castable. Gothic stuff is easier - just add more skulls!

@Malika2: I have, but for now I want to flesh out the epic-scale range a bit first. It is part of the plan, however - the market for 40k or Warmachine terrain is much larger than the one for 6-10mm. The biggest problem is that since the cost of printing is based on volume, an object gets exponentially more expensive to print as you scale it up. Not insurmountable, I just haven't figured out the best way to surmount is yet ;D

Thanks guys!

-Chris

If you make those statue bases, I will buy them - I've wanted a decent base for a 40k plastic statue for a while.

Thanks for your support, guys. I did some rough estimates, and if I sell them at the same price as a Medium building I would need to sell a minimum of about 20 to make it worthwhile.

While I'm on this design kick, I dredged up some of my old traditionally-made terrain from way back and I've been translating some of it into castable form. This one here is based on the shell of an Industrial Small Warehouse but swaps out some of the walls and adds some new pieces as well, increasing the footprint out to Medium building dimensions. Say hello to the Ammunition Factory:

These are a new model of smokestack, of a slightly smaller...caliber ;D
I might still do some tweaking on the wall with the big buttress/fin things. Let me know what you think!

Cheers,
-Chris
