I am thinking of dipping a toe into the water of WWII aircraft gaming, at 6mm. I will be taking the forces of the RAF, obviously.

Its clear that GHQ make the best 6mm WWII stuff.... Its also clear that they are the most expensive out there ($10 for 2 aircraft compared to H&R being 60p each!). Its not clear how much better they are than any other options out there.

Does anyone know of, or have any, photos to compare GHQ WWII UK aircraft minis with others?
Can anyone lend any personal recommendations, or suggest any ranges to take a look at?

I will only be picking up a handful initially, so I dont mind so much paying more for good quality stuff.

Thanks.

I have some H&R planes, but no GHQ to compare them to.

I'd call H&R Servicable, if not exactly exciting; the planes are recognizable, but really, the matchbox toy planes I had when I was a kid had quite a lot better detailing.

I recommend Raiden Miniatures who only did aircraft models and they match up well alongside GHQ minis. They were originally UK based but i believe they are now made or at least available in the states.

Good planes at reasonable prices, well the last time i looked anyway.

They were purchased by i-94 enterprises. And i think they are stocked by Magister Militum here in the UK.

Thanks I will look into Raiden. They came up a few years as a newer manufacturer but I never really went into depth with their stuff. Anyone know of any side by side comparrison pictures of the most common/best in this category?

Thanks.

Would be awesome if you could. Many thanks.
I assume that GHQ and Raiden are the two top dogs here then? If H&R are 'functional' they are the three most obvious 6mm WWII aircraft companies that I can think of. In which case, its down to these two.

Here we go guys.

All planes from Raiden minis except the 109 with the props which is GHQ, this one has discolouring on it but the model is fine.

Thanks for that. Very useful. By your pictures, the GHQ look way better, but by the catalogue shots there doesnt seem a lot of difference between them, and there doesnt seem to be a lot of crossover between the two ranges, so I will mix those two makers. I appreciate it, thanks.

No problem sir happy to be of help.

GHQ are the best but Raiden are cheaper and as you can see compatible with GHQ in size and has a bigger range to which is why i started getting them to enhance the over all aircraft collection.

One additional question. Both Raiden and GHQ have their own basing system which are extra cost and require permanent fixture of the aircraft. Do the GHQ aircraft also fit a standard flight stand attachment? I assume that the Raiden do, as the design looks very similar. I may try to get some DZC stands of something similar for these instead of the manufacturer ones if they dont come included anyway.

Thanks again.
