I'd rather go with a concrete number of models than base this on any rule set:
Best Formation (3 WEs or 3 sets of 3 units, in any combination)
Best Battleforce (3 formations as described above)
Sounds like the best idea to me Dave!

What are your thoughts on fantasy 6mm in the comp?
No interest personally, but if enough others are then sure, why not.

Want to up the resolution to 1280x960?
Upping the resolution is a good idea for sure, but that still sounds pretty piddly. Can we not allow images a lot higher resolution than that? Displays on computers, tablets and phones are increasingly high definition, with 1920 x 1080 being common or even higher (e.g. I'm saving for laptop with a 4k 3840x2160 resolution) so why not make use of that? I suggest allowing 1920 x 1080 images. If anyone has less resolution on their display then their browser / image viewer will just scale the image to fit their screen anyway, though they'd have the option of zooming in on particular areas to see more detail if desired. Allowing images to either be 4:3 or 16:9 aspect ratio would be a good move too - nearly all displays are widesceen these days and I normally take photos in 16:9 on my camera too. 4:3 would be best for single models but 16:9 could help displaying a battleforce.

Do we still need anonymous entry?
No, scrap anonymous entries.

If not, do we still need simultaneous reveal?
Please can we go back to the older system of entering whereby entry photos can EITHER be posted in an entry thread OR emailed through? That was WAY better! Some will post up entries as they go and seeing others cool entries will keep interest and attention on the competition and inspire people to enter more. In the past few years with only revealing at the end there's been initial interest and I've meant to enter, but things have died down and I've forgotten all about Epicomp and not ended up entering. I'm convinced having entries being posted up as time passes will result in more entrants/entries as others are inspired and reminded. On the other hand I still want entries to be able to emailed through instead should people choose, to be revealed only at the end. This allows choice and is the best of both worlds, with still a full reveal of all entries happening at the end.
I assume the same restriction as previous years will apply to Epicomp, whereby certain (sadly long OOP) models too close to others IP aren't allowed to entered? (though one off creations for personal use are fine as are models that take some inspiration but do their own slant on things, e.g. Troublemaker or Onslaught) I understand the reasons for excluding them and think it is good and sensible and it should be continued.
On the other hand I have a controversial suggestion however: could we maybe also run a 'Shadow Epicomp' category? It would have to be entry limited to longer standing trusted forum posters only, unofficial and NOT to be shared or mentioned elsewhere. Entry photos could be emailed through and a zipped file of images emailed around to just those entering to vote on. Probably best to keep it simple and let people enter a photo of anything from a single model to a battleforce.
I have a few hundred epic models with me (with the rest in storage the other side of the planet) but 95+% of them are models I wouldn't be allowed to enter in Epicomp, which is a shame. I'm likely an extreme case but I would think others could be interested to enter such a category too? Would it be a good idea or bad idea?
