Thanks for all the replies, they are appreciated.

The radars are separate pieces. The towers come in two sizes and end in a walled platform.
The AA tower shoes this very well. Taking off the gun leaves the tower free to use. Between the hangars there is one tower with one of the funny head towers, insted of an AA gun or radar. So you can change the use of the tower on the fly. You could also place a 20mm square stand and use it as a guard tower.

A dedicated air control tower is one of the missing pieces. I haven't made my mind up what it should look like.
The obvious choice would be a tower with out leaning glass front. But that would really cry for some interior and crew - I just have to motivate myself to start .

Looks great but those close shots show the quality. Quite rough but works.

Do you have a certain image in mind or is this a general statement ?

I more or less finished the tower, it has to be painted, but I will not finish to paint it before I leave for the UK.

But just as a teaser two pictures of the interior.

The small picture is the original size on a 100 dpi monitor. So it will be about the size the part is in reality. I did this to give some sense of size. Macro shots lex us forget sometimes how tiny that stuff is and a nudge visible in a Macro shot might not be visible to the naked eye.

The yellow is real hard to photograph, sooner or later i will have to spent a day just to find out how to light a "freshly printed model" so I get a great picture.
But I haven't, so I have to settle with those B/W conversions.

I'm quite curious to see how this will look painted.

I'm sure it's been asked before, but I can't find it anywhere in the thread. What printer did you go with?

So back from the UK.

I haven't started with the painting of the interior and probably will not start before the weekend.

The printer is called B9Creator, the website is B9Creator.com. There will be a new higher resolution model coming out in June.

Some of the Shapeways pieces arrived while I was in the UK. On a first quick look I'd say they are at least as good, but to be true it is not so easy to decide as the materials are so different.
I will have to take a closer look and will have to paint them for the final verdict.

Ok,
I couldn't wait tip the weekend. I had to try paint it. Now it's two in the morning and it's done.

I was a bit afraid that I would ruin the model with my painting, but it turned out ok.

The roof isn't glued on, so it doesn't sit flush.
The control tower consists in fact only the upper part, which sits on one of the high towers replacing a radar or aa gun.

So here we go.

That's great. You even have the guy tired of sitting in his chair and stretching. Amazing detail.
