I think, I might have to make a trip to Fredericksburg, Virginia to Historicon to check it out. I believe they, Collins Epic Wargames, LLC, will be there on July 13th.

Did you go? Did you see/test the game? How did you find it?

Byron Collins is at Historicon now. It is this weekend, not the 13th. Go say hi! He has a small demo for Polyversal at his booth, along with his other games. We also now have a Polyversal site on Facebook, which is slowly gathering a community. Check us out there as well. Byron loves to post pictures of demos and other tidbits when he can. I'm also on to answer questions and post stuff.

Im sitting here watching Sunday morning football, and pondering different rulesets. I came here to reread about what we know with Polyversal, and it dawned on me:

Maybe we dont need to buy special colored dice after all?

I play RPGs. I have hundred of dice, in all shapes and colors. I guarantee that I have at LEAST one of each of the "official" colors...but I suspect the color coding is more to tell the player WHAT to roll rather than how to tell the rolls apart, right?

I mean, if you get to roll 1d4, 1d8, 1d4, then the 2d4's dont need to be different - you are just going to add them together anyway. But I bet the cards that tell you what to use have colors and not die types listed? In the end, does it really matter what color the dice are that I roll?

Anyway, just looking for more discussion on this :)

Kealios: you are correct, though the game will come with dice. The color-coding is simply to allow a player to quickly tell at a glance which dice to roll. Cognitively, it is faster for you to simply match yellow to yellow than it is to read "d8" then find an 8-sided die.

I reccommend using the color coded dice because it is easier, but by no means required. In fact, references to dice will always be written out in color-coded boxes so you will both.

May I ask if it's possible to encounter my copy of Polyversal under the christmas tree this year? I've been such a good boy! :)

Skullhamma: Sorry about that. Missed your post. We are aiming for a 2014 Kickstarter. Like our page on Facebook to stay connected. We have been stingy with details so far, but more is on its way.

You are running out of time, guys. ;)

Seriously, when can we expect some real news from you? The first time I read about Polyversal was mid 2012. Since then you make posts how great and revolutionary the game is. I am really interested, but after all that time of waiting and just reading about contracts with other miniature/scenery companies and test games on conventions I'm running out of patience. I don't want to know that you do a kickstarter video (two months ago), I want to know if and when there will be the kickstarter. No offence, good things need time - but I think I will have created a homebrew alternative, if Polyversal doesn't hit shelves in 2015. :sos

I think the problem is the market is suddenly looking saturated with small scale sci fi games this year. DZC, Battletech, Planetfall... I'm not sure is that's a positive or negative thing for Polyversal...? Competition sure, but then that means there's plenty of outlets to get compatible models...

Would a kickstarter mean that it will be released shortly after, or would it mean that (like in some games) it will take a year and a half to come out?

I'm just wondering considering the above questions and concerns.

I will look forward to its release regardless of when it comes out, but it is taking a long time.

I don't really see why an already written and playtested rule set (over several years it sounds like) with the backing of a significant war games publisher and several miniature manufactures really needs a kickstarter anyway ? but I guess that's the new term for "pre-order" :-)
