Hi!

I find that people like e-zines of varied content than just one topic. Its okay to focus on epic, but it would be good to include other games as well on a minor scale.

I am all for a varied format, it provides more interest as well as exposing readers to the other cool games out there.

I personally would love to read any articles that come along, be they VOID, EPIC, BFG, 40k or whatever.

40k Roleplaying is a subject I would be very keen on reading about (the critical hit pages on it are superb) as it is great for developing fluff.

PS: As far as I can see diversity in the EZine can only make it stronger. As long as the focus is on EPIC (as that is the main target audience) then I see no problem with other articles, I would give Douglas free reign to use any articles submitted or that he feels like adding. If there is a cool 40k conversion or paintjob he felt like doing, then I would be interested in seeing it, even though I don't play 40k. It is still fascinating.

thanks Tom much appreciated  :D

Thats settles it then, a range of stuff it is (within reason   :p ) with the main theme as Epic. Sounds good to me.

Another thing that would be good are battle reports which I found really good in the WDs. That would be something I would like to have using the various forces and seeing different forces fielded for different tactics.

any other ideas while its a topic being discussed? Would love to hear them  :D

Doug

Hi!

A section for reviewing games would be good, I have always like to have such a section so as to shine the spotlight on the many games out there.

personally I don't like the ezine format...

did I say that!

what I mean is that I would rather have a series of web based articles which I can click individual articles (as in the articles page on the incoming page) rather than having to download a 500kb zipped Word file

Wow, loads of feedback.

I don't mind doing a review of VOID, seeing as I play it quite a bit. I can also do an article on my Syntha army.

As for the EZine format, whilst it is initially released as a .DOC file for people to easily print out, after two weeks I believe it is planned to split the EZine into articles for the appropriate websites (be they Epic40k.com or NetEPIC.org). Quite a few people have commented how they like them all printed in a magazine format so they can read them whenever they like. This is just from my experience as the previous Incoming! editor.

Hmm... I have to agree with Jmbo really- its easier to load up a couple of web pages than fiddle around downloading a file...of course, just my personal opinion.. :-:

Hi!

Perhaps both ways can be acomodated, one big file for download and separate "viewable" articles.

The current system accomidates both ways, perhaps another vote should be issued?

What do you think Doug? Ball is in your court  ??? .

As netepic mentioned, the current format allows both download and read online. I dont see why this needs to change. I prefere to read online, unless I am travelling and want to put it on disk or print out to take with me.

I agree with Jimbo that there are times when I just want the entire lot on my PC in one go, but I can do that already.

I would prefer that the articles be put directly onto their appropriate sites. Of cause this oblitterates the need for the magazine.

Any thoughts??

Cheers

Chris

Hi,

Articles are put up the site for reading anyway so like Tom said we do accomodate for both ways.  Obviously the articles are a little later on the netepic site than the ezine to give ezine a chance to be read and useful. I myself have gone back and picked certain articles that are separate for tips on what I would like to do.

As for putting up the articles on the relevant sites and not using ezine, well in my opinion the ezine is a collection of articles mainly from netepic members, but dont quote me on that      :D  Its just an impression I got.

My reviews will still be going to epic40k.com and only a few will be used as well in the ezine.

One thing that does spring to mind is maybe bring forward the articles onto the netepic site, i.e ezine is released and maybe a week later the individual articles can be made available.  Just a thought.

I am not sure that any delay is really necessary. I am sure that there are people out there who get Incoming without regularly checking the site. I like to have all the latest updates compiled together so I dont have to search for them. I dont think that Incoming and updates at the same time would necessarily take readers away from the newzine, and it would appease those who like their articles online.
