I needed a few chaos backpacks for a small project. So i thought i'd try instant mould to make some with.
I removed a backpack from a spare figure and then flattened the back and glued it to a plastc base. Then i made a few moulds and then pushed green stuff in and left it overnight.

They didn't come out to bad, some are better than others, but that may be the individual moulds. The backpack was not easy to mould as air kept getting trapped around it, but i'm fairly happy with the result. They just need some cleaning up.

Slightly warmer today so i manage to varnish my tanks. :)

Two companies of Macharius heavy tanks for my Death Korps regiment. I got these OOP items from the Otterforge many moons ago, it's a pity we will never be able to get them again, this is my entire inventory. :(

Next up is either more vehicles or some heavy guns for this army, or more chaos re-inforcements.

Cheers elsmore, yes the backpacks did come out reasonably good although they obviously have no detail on the other side.
Still they are good enough for what i needed them for. I don't know how they will hold up during handling, but they seem reasonably flexible so hopefully they will not break easily. Just hope the paint stays on.

I found a rough 1:1 mix of greenstuff and milliput works pretty damn well, the milliput makes it hard, while the greenstuff helps stop it shattering.....

+1 on that mix. The milliput also makes it somewhat fileable.
