Nice blog thingie! We actually played at Gothcon (I was the first Ork player with no clue whatsoever...) Just found this and I am well happy to see your minis up close as the detail is, well, ridiculuous. By far the best looking Epic army at that convention. I sure learned some great lessons (like how the game actually plays) and will implement some of them (given time...). Hope there will be an epic gathering next year too!

Ok I have now finished painting my first warband (2nobs, 6 boyz, 2 grots) for my ork army.

I found yellow to be a hard color to master. I want it to be kind of dull tone but, at the same
time when painting 6mm you have to make it quite bright. It's a hard getting the right balance.

One guy I met at gothcon gave me the tip to use Iyanden darksun. So I went and bought it a few
days ago and I have to say it's a great color for anyone trying to paint yellow, but I still found it hard
to highlight the yellow properly.

I hope you guys like the result. I'm not entirely convinced myself so I will try to paint
one unit in a blue theme instead next, to see if I like that better.

Anyways here they are (sorry for picture quality, way too bright):

You can almost hear them yelling: "Orks! Orks! Orks!" As they say over on the-waaagh.com: "Job'z a gud wun." ;)

Great Orks! I really like your style of painting greenskins. Reminds me of the merrier times of early RT orkiness, which I like myself. The attention to detail is almost slightly worrying. Wil you have the stamina to last a sizeable Whaargh? Btw, how will the cashier react when you hand him/her a big mob to pay for the morning paper?

I really do hope so. I think I want 3 big size warbands. So one can look at it from the bright side I've already finished a sixth :)

:D

I actually used the coins because I wanted to be able to magnetize them for storage/carrying. I was really annoyed when
I realized that there's no iron in Swedish coins :( Epic fail! :P

cheers

Orks look great, especially liking the freehand, do you use a stencil/straight-edge or do you just have a really steady hand?

Thanks :)

I guess you mean the banners, they are actually not freehand, but the water-stickers things (I don't know the english term) that you get
sometimes with GW stuff. I contemplated doing freehand first, but felt it's to hard in such a small scale so went with the stickers.

cheers

You can never go wring with yellow. Or, wait a minute...

Or, what about this mean lot as an inspiration to the next mob? The clothes, not the hairstyles or anything else for that matter...

Yeah they're great to have now. I think they are from way back when I used to play epic space marine. I don't think
they're available anymore sadly.

Some of the transfers from the 40k sheets are suitable.
