Thanks, you're kind. Those little vanes totally deserve to be metal, not my crude resiny lumps.

I can always send the prints back if you want them. They are just collecting dust on my shelf right now :)

so all thats left is the big stuff (2 pylons and a harvester) and its finished for the time being (when various floating and snakey devices are available i'll be getting a bunch of those too)

personally, i like the way the army seems to have sprung up from the ground, thats kinda the point of it, being necrons and all.
i'm also quite happy with the paint jobs, and have a special place of affection for the excavator, whch has 8 seperate components (and some plasticard and greenstuff of course)

thanks all. i'm fairly happy with them, though they dont photograph terribly well (or rather, my "hurried shots late at night with cheap camera" drops a bit of the detail)

they're really very easy to paint, you should be able to do them over a weekend (2 if you need to base them, and spend a bunch of it watching Kill Bill, and My Little Ponys)

for posterity, incase i forget by the time watermammal reenforcements get here, the entire paintscheme is as follows (i have a little book that lists my bloody hand paint mixes but these are simple enough not to matter for that)

Basing: made from polyfiller+water into shape, then pva glue and sawdust, with some GW style basing grit and a few thin plaster chips. on the display board i added in some ultrafine builders sand in with the gritting parts)
for the floating stuff, there is a layer of bluetac+superglue to make an indent for the clear rod to sit before the polyfiller step

Painting Bases: spray black -> Adeptus Battlegrey heavy drybrush -> Fortress Grey light drybrush

Infantry: spray black (this was done during the basing step, as the infantry where based before painting) -> Mithral Silver heavy drybrush -> Badab Black wash
Weapons: goblin green -> Scorpion green on everything but recesses -> Thraka Green wash
Immortals get white faces (eyes drawn in cylon-wise with 0.03 copic pigment liner)
Lord gets white face, (eyes as actual eyes here, still done via copic) with cloak given a Dark Angel Green+A Little Water coat, so the Mithral still sorta shows through. weapon hilt was painted black
pariahs get white shoulderpads, and their face was given a dwarf bronze coat before the mithral drybrushing (minor difference but it does show if you look for it)

Vehicles: Chaos Black -> Adeptus Battlegrey heavy drybrush -> Fortress Grey light drybrush -> Scorpion Green accents (i love scorpion green, one of GWs best paints alongside Dheneb, Boltgun, and of course, M.U.D) although i did add in a metal housing (PP paints Pig Iron + Chaos Black, basically its a metallic nearblack)
Golden Starburst was Shining Gold
Weapons as infantry (portals too, although they get a rehighlighting after wash)
Crystals: Goblin Green -> Scorpion Green+Water ->Thraka Green heavy wash -> Scorpion Green edging

Ctan followed the same sort of path, except that he had a series of white washes over his skin, followed by watered down badab black and such.
Yellow from objectives was Tausept -> Golden Yellow -> Golden Yellow -> Gryphonne Sepia
weathering on the excavator was done with vallejo pigments, gw washes and a truly raggedy old fine detail brush (it has about 20 bristles left at best) and some Mithral silver.
Black stripes where primarily drawn on with Copic (0.3 this time) except on the excavator which was done with paint and touchuped by the Copic

seriously though, necrons are easy as hell to paint (and the pariah models pretty much blow)
I suspect i will get the big things done tonight, bringing me to a bit over 4000 points, and leaving me free to return to my 2010 diary for a while, until i get need a break and do another army. not sure which one it'll be though

Very cool. If there was one criticism I have it's that the infantry could do with a coloured wash of some sort to make them stand out from the bases.

well, the infantry stand out a bit more in person, it seems to be a trick of my mediocre lighting, camera, and camera skills, but i'm fairly happy with them as is, atleast for now

anyway, heres the last few bits
firstly the abbatoir/warbarque

and the pylons

here's a shot of all the heavy shots

and a new shot of the infantry, hope it shows them a bit better

and here's the "all together now" shot.

all done for now!

The only thing I don't like is the choice of basing colour, as it makes the models hard to pick out since it's similarly coloured to most of the units.
