Otterman's Occasional Rant

1) The Stormraven sucks ass.
2) GW's photoshopping is sad and alarming, flavin. Let's see - major manufacturer of miniatures can't be bothered to assemble and paint more than one sample for marketing? Fail.

And this is not the debate thread. This is the rant thread. We can debate elsewhere. Here we rant, and any adherence to logic and reality is incidental.

The Stormraven:

"Remember the terrified look on your opponents' face when you first fought them with your Blood Angels? Well be prepared to see it again because nothing inspires terror quite like this vehicle - it's a flying red fist of death that's going to punch their army until it begs for mercy. " (Games Workshop . Com)

The other day I was wondering why I don't play 40k any more...and then I read this!

I have moments of doubt like that....they don't last more than a few minutes....Usually after looking at the website, talking to a GW employee or watching a Core game battle.

Vehicles have no place in full scale

I just liked the 'punch them till they beg for mercy' bit...! Definitely the antithesis of a friendly gaming manner!

It's the 360 image from 'What's new today' which is most worrying. From the front you can see through between the hull and the hurricane bolter assembly, but the from the back it is enclosed by the sponson housing :o

You can't see through, it's the white wings from the blood angels symbol on the front of the hull that you can see ;)

Adding my rant to here. Was molding up something big for Epic (Cathedral-sized big) and I was very pleased with myself. Mold box was made of generic brand Legos which only cost half as much - important since the mold box needed to be very big. But the generic Legos are rounded and not engineered as well as real Legos. End result - about $40 of mold making material poured out of the fracking mold box and onto my work bench.

I really hope the actual mold came out okay or I am just going to scream.

Something leads me to suspect that, as part of their cost saving measures, they've even had to resort to cutting down on the number of models they use for display purposes!

Oh and definitely agree on it looking terrible. Seems they're justing phoning them in from the pub these days.

Ouch!!!

What was the lesson learned here? eh? There are some things you just don't buy in generic, Lego's being one of them Sir!

Next time go to the Lego Store and just buy some rectangles and flat sheet.

P.S. I hope the mold came out too!!!
