im not sure if this is the right part of the forum to ask(or should it be in the chaos section),but i want to design a dark mechanicus list,i have never done anything like this in my life so im gonna need some help!!!

What do you means with "Dark Mechanicus"? Are they a Chaos Titan legion? Ordinary Traitors? Please specify.

There are a few Chaos Titan variants in the different chaos lists. You should give them a good read through and preferably some play testing versus differnt opponents to see how they function first.

depends on the flavour of dark mechanicus you want.

If you want a Forgeworld recently departed from the "light side", use an AMTL/Forgeworld PDF list.
To set it in a Heresy environment, you would have to design heresy lists, which should essentially be the same for traitors or loyalist, be it about Titan legions, Adeptus Astartes or Loyalist/renegade Guard regiments.

If you want mutated titans, other Chaotic war engines and such, you would probably have to make a new list from those unit, and renegade skitarii/Priesthood... But its' doubtful if a Forgeworld going renegade would keep its organisational structure long enough for titans to mutate.
Most probably, its priesthood would have been dissolved into combatant maniac fused into their machines and some mad scientist that wouldn't show on a battlefield unless you were to invade them.

The traitor legions are mostly pictured as operating with other traitor forces in the background stories, which wouldn't give much material for a Titan/Warengine list.
In Titanicus when a Traitor legion is operating alone, it is being structured in a similar way to loyalists legions.

So I guess if you want a "traitor legion list", you would have to start from scratch (you'll have the unit stats in already existing Chaos lists at least).

i dont wanna make a titan list,i want it to be something similar to the PDF list but with a twist,something 'like' the forces that were beseiging the magma city before it went into melt down,if needs be then ill just use that as a basis and work from there.........sureley theres gotta be something to differentiate the 2 forces,and not just from a modelling aspect,how about AI and the such??/

AI ? I'm not sure I understand what you are referring to.

I personally quite like the idea of a traitor forces using the same list (if the treason is recent). Must be some nostalgia from Adeptus Titanicus day. Technically, apart from maybe a few possessed or demoniacally gifted commanding cadre, I don't think there would be much differences in the army structure or troupes in a Forgeworld recently going the traitor way.

I am wary of difference for difference sake, even as I think it might be a trend those days.

Artificial intelligence,like the kaban machine,i think the DM were experimenting with it,your probably right,ill just use the pdf list!!!

If it is not a titan list, consider LaTD. Use all of the daemon engine stats to proxy wacky DM creations, Cultists for hordes of corrupted servitors and skitarii, mutants for dark mech slaves and genetic engineering experiments etc
