E&C

In this list, where are the following?:

Malefactor
Dactylis
Haruspex

They are removed as this is a Hive Fleet Leviathan army list, rather than the older Hive Fleet (Think it was Kraken?) that is represented in the Hamman's World army list.

Also, the Exocrine Carnifex, are our Exocrine minis to be used for these or should exocrine be added to the above list (I notive the stats are similar)?

You could easily counts-as Exocrines as Exocrine Carnifexes.

Just wondering as you have included units that do not exist in miniature yet left ones that do out.
This was supposed to be an updated, modern style Tyranid list, and so the models that have not been represented for many years have been removed, it's not intended to be 100% practical, only an ideal combination of miniatures.

Note that pretty much all the miniatures do exist (all the photos are of Epic scale minis!), they're just not comercially available.

But I have some doubts:
Doesn´t Winged Hive Tyrant have Venom Cannon??? if not, why is FF 5+?

FF5+ is a typo and should be removed.

Too many Reinforced Armour units??

Nah, not with the soon-to-be reduced level of spawning...

If Spawning rule won´t be removed, what about using the necron rule to represent it?? I think it´s an easier and simpler way (for Brood(1)units).

I'm going to run an update to this list, including two main changes:

1 - Only Gaunts, Raveners and Trygons will be allowed to Spawn.

2 - I'll introduce my latest idea on how an initiative-based penalty can work for losing your Synapse creature.

Isn't Leviathan the first hive fleet, which hit the Ultramarines home? I'm going here by memory and not checking up as I'm not home. Kraken was second.

No that was Behemoth.

Behemoth was one big Hive Fleet, which barrelled in a straight line directly towards MacGragge (and was defeated on the home world of the Ultramarines themselves, talk about unlikely!). Most common colourscheme was Red and Blue. Came from the Galactic East.

Kraken was many small Hive Fleets, which had many tendrils (like a, uh, Kraken), mostly blunted by the Imperial response, but some splinter fleets remain. Most common colouration was Red and Bone. Came from the Galactic South / South East.

Leviathan is multiple medium sized Hive Fleets. Most common pigmentation phenotype is Whiteish-Bone and Blackish-Purple. Came from below the Galactic plane, and so can pop up anywhere, but generally appears in the Eastern side of the Galaxy.

Other smaller Hive Fleets exist, such as Harbinger and Jortmundr.

I'm going to run an update to this list, including two main changes:

Yes please

We are looking at trying this list out to compare against 9.2.1 to see what rules we prefer to play with.

Will be waiting

Actually, since Jervis himself has asked us not to run "mutliple variants" of lists for the Tyranids, I'd prefer if you didn't release a full army document.

Posting your individual Special Rules concepts for discussion is fine, but having "competing" lists running at the same time just diffusing playtesting and splinters the player base.

Frankly I do not give two hoots about what Jervis wants.

If there is another list with good rules to play and test, then that is what I want.

When was the last time Jervis picked up the dice for an Epic game anyways?

It just come across as you protecting your own list and does not look good Chroma. The more the merrier.

I do not consider this list to be competing as it is merely a collection of my own ideas, plus some background text (which you are free to steal for the ERC list if you want it).

I will update the link on the first page once, for your own consideration and for Frogbear, then lock this this thread and allow it to sink into the background without further discussion, if that is acceptable.

Frankly I do not give two hoots about what Jervis wants.

On the other hand, I respect his opinion as a game designer very highly.

Why the hostility, frogbear?

I've posted many variants, submitted by other people, here, including getting a translation of the French list for people to try out, so I don't think I'm "protecting my own list"; I'm trying to keep things "focused", as having multiple lists out there for people to play just spreads confusion for the most part.  Maintaining "focus" is part of an Army Champion's job when developing a list.  And so is listening to other people's ideas.  I think I'm capable of doing both.   :agree:

Have you played any games with any of the various lists here, Frogbear?  I don't recall seeing any playtests or battle reports from you, so where are you getting your concept of which rules are "good" or not?

Jervis actually told E&C directly to his face about not diffusing/splintering playtesting, and I, and I believe E&C, respect that.

He's played at least three, the last two against me.

And I absolutely hated the experience.

From a cursory look at the Leviathan list, it's one I'd be interested in playing against. That doesn't mean it's good. It just means I see it as sufficiently different and has changes to the fairly significant issues I had with it.

As for the Jervis concern, I understand the general concept. The problem comes about when more than one person has a format that's incompatible with the other. Tweaking 9.2.1 won't fix the issues I have with it, in much the same way that the current Demiurg list for Squats is incompatible with how I want them to work. Should I not work on a Squat list, because one is in development (hell)?

For that matter, how is it any different for Leviathan/9.2.1 and the three existant Squat lists (Thurgrim + alternates/Demiurg/French)?

I just get tired of people referring to jervis, that's all.

I respect the guy, but I feel his name is bandied around too much to justify people's positions. Just my experience, that's all.

I have played the following 'alternate lists':

Nids 9.2.1 - with battle report and have another to do
World Eaters 1.0 - reported but no official battle report
Home based squat list - played against this

I am probably the biggest supporter of 9.2.1 nid list next to yourself Chroma so there is a certain respect I hold for you there alone.

I am also probably the most active on getting the World Eater 1.1 list going, and although did not get the game in tonight, am planning fort it over the next 2-3 days with a battle report.

Do the homework before you post the above next time methinks.  :glare:

Could you elaborate on what you "hated" about the experience?

Hmm

Chroma, you were active on both the below threads so I am a little miffed that you are calling me out on this one. I may not have the years of experience that you guys have had, yet for the short time I have been on here, I am an active member and have been trying to help the developing lists.

I really think you should take what you said back

Here are the links to show the results just from alternate lists:

I'm not "calling you out", I was asking for references to games you'd played.  I don't usually recall who started a playtest report when I record them, so I was hoping you would link me to any of your reports.  I took a cursory look in the Battle Report forum before I posted and didn't see anything, so I posted the query, without looking in the actual Tyranid forum.  My bad.

And, honestly, frogbear, you seem to be reading everything I'm writing in the *worst* possible light; just try this for me for a while: while you read what I've written think of a person with a friendly smile on their face, because that's how I'm sitting here typing.
