Well, apologies first of all. Why?.. well this was going to be a NetEpic traitor heresy battle of giant proportions of the assault of the Emperors Palace on Earth... but as with all plans of mortal men... and most games involving a large group of people, this did not happen.
However, we did fight a large scale 8K battle over one of the Emperors Summer Palace... (I think Stephen said it was set somewhere in Brighton...) This could not be allowed and so an army of Dark Angels and their Imperial Guard allies was dispatched to deny the archenemy the convenience of the Emperors mini-bar and sauna/whirlpool.

The game was played in the Glasgow Games Workshop Store and caused quite a lot of attention with the passing and not so passing trade. Hopefully some converts to the game were made... ah, the true objective. Just about anyone that would listen and some that probably weren't got told about TacComm.

Stephen, the Crazed Chaos Warmaster and just so happens also the GW store manager would be playing as Chaos (with his own painted Horde)... for the first time. This army list is what I recall and although a list was emailed to me I couldn't view it for some reason. It'll do.

World Eaters Chaos Legion
Emperors Children Chaos Legion
Renegade Company *
Chaos Daemon (Monster) Horde *
Juggers of Khorne Detachment x2
Hellhound Daemons of Khorne
Daemon Engines of Khorne
Cannon of Khorne Battery x2
Blood Thurster Greater Daemon of Khorne ***
Changer of Ways Greater Daemon of Tzeentch ***
Chaos Land Speeders
Banelord Titan Daemon Engine of Khorne
Chaos Warlord
Chaos Reaver Titan
Warhound Scout Pack
Flamers of Tzeentch x2
Chaos Terminators
Chaos Havoc Marines
Chaos Predator Detachment
Tzeentch Disc Riders
Noise Marines of Slaanesh
Warp Vortex of Tzeentch

(* Chaos Reward Cards)

Richard, a stalwart and loyal Marine player would be personally leading his own army of Dark Angels into the fray.

Dark Angels Death Wing
Dark Angels Assault Company
Dark Angels Devastator Company
Warhound Scout Titan Pack (Both with a Vulcan Mega Bolter and Melta Cannon)
Reaver Titan (Volcano Cannon, Turbo Laser and Barrage Missile)

Yours Truly (Warhead), was allowed to chose between Imperial Guard and some very cool painted Imperial Fist Marines. Although the Marines were extremely tempting I settled for the Guard as allies. Richard had stated early on that he wanted to be aggressive in his attack and I thought the Guard would compliment his tactics better.

Leman Russ Company
Artillery Company x2
Deathstrike Battery (All with Barrage Missiles)
Tarantula Battery
Stormhammer Superheavy Tank
Sentinel Squadron
Warhound Scout Titan Pack (1/ 2xChain Fists 2/ Plasma Blastgun/Turbo Laser)
Warlord Titan (Warp Missile,Plasma Cannon,Wrecker,Chain Fist,Command Head)
Inquisitor

Ok, so I fel short by 100 points but I had run out of time. Give a guy a break!

The Chaos force deploys. The massive army stretches to the horizon. (... What?.. It's a Vortex...)

A very bad shot of a very nice Khorne Warlord.

Another bad photo of the other side of the Chaos army as they prepare to advance from the remains of a ramshackle village... the Emperors servants have to stay somewhere.

Another shot of the Chaos Titans, lovely!

Across from the shanty village the Death Wing recite their benediction of Glory while waiting in their Land Raiders. Two Imperial Warhounds also ready themselves for the coming onslaught. The Dark Angel Assault Company and Inquisitor are close by.

The gunners of the first Imperial Artillery Company wait in anticipation to begin the deluge of destruction.

On the other flank the Imperial Guard are strongest. The Dark Angel Reaver, Warhounds and Devastators command the centre.

Overview...

Turn 1

Chaos lose the initiative roll and the compulsory move of the Vortex gives Stephen cause for concern as it moves backwards towards the Chaos Troops but stops just short. Who can fathom the reasons behind the creations of Tzeentch.

Speeding past the Emperors Summer Palace the Dark Angel Assault Company rushes into the midst of the Charging Chaos forces. ...To engage them at close quarters! Well, Richard did say he wanted to be aggressive...

The Death Wing and an Imperial Warhound move up to cover the Assault Companies attack. The Inquisitor moves into the Palace and gets comfy in the Emperors Jacuzzi while shouting stirring and comforting words out the window at the troops. ...Days of our Lives repeats are on the Emperors TV, he settles in for the long haul.

Chaos makes a general sweeping advance on the opposite flank securing an Objective.

The Centre shambles forward too.

The first Basilsik battery attempts to fire on the Cannon of Khorne but amazingly the attack falls short. The Chaos Cannons go after the Dark Angel Reaver and Devastators but with only marginal success. Killing a few Devestators and stripping two shilds from the Reaver. No Cannons blow up... yet.
The Imperial Fire improves as almost an entire Devastator Company attempts to target the Chaos Reaver but unfortunatly only manage to strip its shields, the range proving to be too great for many... IIRC. The remainder of the company tople a clutch of Trolls who fall over apparently dead. Yeah, right.
The Imperial Artillery pounds at the Chaos forces in the shanty town destroying two buildings and killing three units of Havocs and some other Minions in the wreckage. The Bloodthurster would have taken a hit but of course what did I roll on a 2+ to hit?.. yes, a one. Not to be my last.
The second Artillery Company strips a shields from one of the Warhounds and leaves one shieldless.  The Deathstrikes are safely launched from their vehicle platforms and speed off to worry the Chaos Warlord mightily. He had no AA units... Ulp!

The close combat phase proved upsetting for the Dark Angel Assault Company. The mortality rate was higher than expected. The piles of dead can be seen still on the table at the fore of the picture. At least the Emperors Children Chaos Champion got what he deserved. The biggest problem proved to be a detachment of Chaos Terminators that charged into the Loyalist Assault Marines at the last minuet, they cost the loyalists dearly but the company was still, as yet unbroken...

The Chaos line and Loyalist Assault Marines face each other in bitter hatred. Neither seem inclined to give ground.

The Advance Fire phase starts well for the Imperials. The Imperial Warlord fires its Warp Missile at one of the Chaos Warlord Titans (The Banelord). The missile skips in and out of reality. In micro seconds it reaches its target passing through the shields unstopped. The missile materialises within the Titan, misses the targeted reactor and explodes within the Titans Bridge killing whatever inhabited the once proud War Machine. Slowly, but inevitably the Titan smashes to the ground destroyed. Imperial cheering can be heard as the clamour dies down. Huzzah!
Shots are exchanged on both sides but when the dust clears a Chaos Warhound has been destroyed by the efforts of the Imperial Reaver and IG Leman Russ Company. A detachment of Juggers is also almost wiped out by a squad of Sentinals and all the Chaos Terminators (not Chaos Land Raiders) are anhialated by the Death Wing. I think my Plasma Blastgun armed Warhound went after the Bloodthurster but I didn't even cost Stephen a Chaos Card.

Overview...

The Chaos and Imperial Reaver and the Chaos Warhound each regain one void shield while out of the seven Trolls put down by heavy fire only three die. All morale rolls automatically pass due to one reason or other. (Greater Daemon in range and LOS or Morale of 1 etc.)

At the end of the first turn Chaos has secured three of the eight objectives, giving them 15VP. However they had gained no further VP from kills.

At the end of the first turn the Imperials have secured five of the eight objectives giving them 25VP. They also gain...
Banelord Titan 7VP
Warhound 2VP
Terminators 4VP
Havocs 4VP
Juggers 2VP

Imperial Total: 44VP         Chaos: 15VP

The target for a game of this size was 65VP for a win.

You'll need to wait until tomorrow for the conclusion as I am exhausted. I had been at a job interview immediately before attending this game, so you can understand I'm shattered. Be back soon...

Cool! Was this a GW store or an independent guy? I was thinking maybe a GW store wouldve preferred E:A over NE?

It was the GW Manager, Stephen who is way into NetEpic in a big way who organised this event. He's hoping to have another NetEpic event on the last Wednesday of April too from 10am to 6pm. ORK GARGANTS vs. IMPERIAL TITAN LEGION.

This game generated a lot of interest in the store throughout the day with people asking questions or the same people returning to check progress. All Stephens good work, good on yah mate.  :agree: Hopefully Stephen and Richard will drop in and take a look around the forum, maybe even join the cause, sort of speak.

Yeah, the Warp Missile was tremendous. I have never had it work for me so well, ever. Although, I have had it work against me that well so I could understand Stephen's pain. Ouch!

Yeah, I asked about that but Stephen said it is at the GW store managers discretion as to what he does in the store to generate interest.
They also host a Specialist Games nights on a Thursday and suggested that if I wished to play NetEpic all I had to do was get in touch (let players know and maybe organise a set game with point limit etc) and bring my stuff. Bigger games like this would need some more thought to plan and time to play however.

Why not have a word with your local stores manager, you just never know.

I would, but my local GW store closed, leaving a grand total of one in all of New England. However, the manager of the store that just closed is opening his own gaming store.

Back on topic, thanks for the Batrep. I'm looking forward to seeing how this played out. An 8000 point game sure can show Epic at its finest.

DS, at least you have a local games store opening up soon... Our local GW store and games store folded in our town, but Glasgow is ok to get to.

L4, frown all you want but I'll be painting my Khorne in the standard blood red too. We can't all be like you mate... even L4's house... inside and out is decorated in forest camo right down to the cornflakes.  :))  I even suspect he has a Blackhawk prepped on standby in the lawn out back.

Nah, we don't get many shootouts here L4. Scots are well hard not insane.
