G/W's SM2 to E40K aircraft scale is off ...

Not surprised. Yeah, Orks are good for non-standardised units.

I take it that the scale difference is the same with SHT's too? I keep finding myself gazing fondly at the Baneblades.

All of FW's stuff* is truescale, that meaning that it is a direct 1:5 reduction from the 40k scale model.

SG's metal war engines / planes on the other hand are to a different scale to the rest of Epic, and are generally much too small.

*Except their Titans... Will Hayes would like to fix that one day.

Yes, with F/W being "True-Scale", and G/W-S/G SM1, SM2/TL, E40K being "different" scales ... sometimes you just got to go with it ...  IMO, all versions of the L/Russ are closer to the sizes of Light Tanks and SHT closer to MBTs ...  And my favorite DKoK Siegfried Lt. Tank being a Tankette ...     But hey it's better than paper counters ! :;):

I was leaning more towards FW Super Heavy Tanks (mainly due to costs and coolness of model) and after E&C's Intel I think that is the way I will go. Cheers, E&C.

It's funny how you never seem to be able to call a halt on how many minis you acquire?

But hey it's better than paper counters !

Or Lego block proxies L4.

Don't underestimate the power of lego 2 by 4 with a match glued on!

Anyhow, I really need a micro tank. The "Abrams" I have is 23x11mm where it should be 26x12. A Chimera MkII is 26x17mm.

Because you expect orks to have mix and match vehicles the size is less of an issue than any of the other races.
So long as they are in different 'wings' I've no problem with either as you can see.

Yes Warhead, the nightwings are especially beautiful AND the wings actually can sweep forwards too  :))

ps, here's a baneblade and a half

Seriously, Epic is starting to look foolish with all add-ons and selfmade abbrovinces. A straight up game with distinct corners for yes and no would be nice.

Yes, Legos painted up would be better than cardboard !  As far as Epic looking silly ... don't get me started !  Scale differences between SM1, SM2 and E40K were bad enough ! There are 2 different sizes of your basic SMs(Mk.VIs vs. Mk.VIIs) and Ork Boyz and 3 for Eldar Guardians ! :sus: Then F/W's scale ! Then the E40K SM Cmd figs are almost the size of Ogryn ! :oh:  Holy Scale Creep Batman !!! :oo:  I try to keep the F/W stuff and G/W stuff in different units. So the sizes are not so obvious ... But what can you do ?  But Always Do What Works For You(ADWWFY) !

Isn't it normally the case that Tank crews would benefit if they were... shorter of stature than the average height? I don't know if this is required in modern tanks but I bet there are examples throughout WWII.

I really like the Aeronautica Imperialis Nightwing mini. Purty!

I'm almost positive the US Army in WW II did have a height maximum for tankers, as did ball turret gunners.

Except for the fact that all of their Super Heavies are way too small.
