After reading through several posts about howsome people don't like the idea of constantly playing playtesting lists, which change somewhat rapidly.  And Chroma's reply that nid 8.4 should beused in tornaments I had an idea.

What if all the experimental lists have two (or in the nid's case even more) versions

The first version will be the version to use if you don't want to play test etc and will normally be a bit older, less up to date

The second version will be the playtest version in which changes are tried out.

For example AMTL V3.06 could be the one to play for fun at tornies etc, whilst AMTL V3.08x is the playtest one in which new ideas are bing tried out.

In the nids case you will have 8.4x,i 8.4x,ii and so on denoting compteting playtesting versions.

Now the playtesting versions could be changed on a monthly or even daily bases (I am looking at you here E&C  :D ).  Whilst the experimental version will only be updated once a quarter or so.

Thought?

I think that I announced when I took over AMTL development that there would be a flurry of development versions for the first week or two whilst we settled on what type of list we wanted... we're now entering a more calm time where playtesting can begin in earnest.

Don't worry E&C.  I don't mind the rapid changes you did.  It was fun coming back every few hours and seeing a new list up.

This is pretty much how I have imagined the process working, and I think other ACs have too. Essentially, I have sent versions that are more stable to SG for inclusion on the Experimental Rules download page, while more radical versions have remained available here only, until feedback exists to make a decision on the ideas.

That is why I have never sent every version to SG for public consumption.
