Hello all :) ?Here's something I've had on my mind for the past few days, I just wanted to sound off to see what response it got here.

I've been increasingly thinking that there is a need for more in the way of Modular, ruined sci-fi style buildings to go with 6mm/Epic games.

We currently have the Epic ruin sprue, which I think is great - but there are some issues with it:

1) it's expensive
2) it's very gothic orientated, fine for Epic, but not neccessarily for DRM or EW
3) you're restricted to what you can do with it in someways, ie it requires a lot of work and skill to make intact structures out of it.

So, I would propose we need a new set of modular ruins. ?For 28mm sci-fi there's some excellent stuff/ the 40k Cities of Death sets, the Platformer/Hexagon sets, Pegasus Cathedral set... ?

Wouldn't it be great if we had something similar to, say, the CoD stuff in 6mm, giving people the choice to make ruined or intact buildings? ?Or to give us the option to join several sets to make larger structures that are shapes other than squares or rectangles?

Finally, I would just like to say that I think that here on Tac Comms, we have people with the talents and abilities to design and create such a terrain set, as the Likes of Reaver, E&C, Chroma & Otterman have demonstrated with their sculpting and/or casting.

So over to the rest of the community. ?Who would like to see a new, modular, generic sci-fi terrain stuff in 6mm scale? ?I, for one, would completely welcome it.

Thanks for reading! :)

I'll give a big yes especially if it can be made really affordable.

The more the better I always say.  :)   I would definately be interested in more options as far a terrain goes.

I'd vote for generic stuff - not just non-Gothic, but non sci-fi, to permit their use in any period of time from (say) 1930 onwards. Or better still, 1880, but tht would land us back in Gothic architecture! :)

But who will put the bell on the cat ?

Edit: note that I'm not poo-pooing the idea, I like it. But who could do it? We all seem up to the chins in our own projects. The only thing I have remotely accomplished like this is a crappy styrene roof.

Beginning to sound like that famous Steinbeck novel, 'Of mice and otters'...

Well, if this thread gets enough 'yeas' I am sure some enerprising soul will start cranking stuff out.

With that said, Chroma already supposedly started on some terrain awhile back and then all the talk about it just faded away.

Ultimately, I'd love to see a bazaar of sorts where 6mm stuff that was sculpted/created/whatever was up for all to see - like a one-stop shopping.  The problem comes in with stuff that clings to the fringes of the GW IP (Deathwheels becoming 28mm uni-wheeled robots and such :) ).

I'm not sure how much I can help, but I'm all for it. I'm getting sick to death of the Gothic look.

Actually, I thought it'd be good if they were generic enoughurban ruins they could be used for modern, or even WWII ruins...

Anyway, I think Otterman has a point - perhaps this is something we need to petition the guys at DRM & Exodus Wars about?

JR Miniatures already has some Epic-scaled ruins. Most of them are meant for WW II games, but I think they're generic enough to be used for Epic.

However, it might be a good idea to petition the fine gents at DRM and E/W.

Hey, don't get me started about those guys! Showing off their neat mining controllers and super heavy sniper dudes! Then they won't sell me any.

Ah, it's probably just all 3D renderings. Grumble grumble...

Sounds like a great idea, though I'm not sure how much I can add to the effort personally.

I do know a chap who works as an architectural modeller however...

I'm trying to talk a buddy who has his own web=based resin terrain company into doing some right now actually...

And since he was "foolish" enough to just start playing Epic here's hoping he'll see the need as well. :)

I'd also suggest petitioning Jez at Old Crow... I have to admit I'm a huge fan of his lines so I would personally consider grabbing anything he put out ruins wise.
