Sure!  First off, a nice looking chaos list is something most people want.  Second, I would imagine a full titan list could run a close second, only because "who doesn't like huge robots?"  For a background theme, set up the fluff as an Adeptus Mechanicus forgeworld under attack from the forces of chaos, attempting to steal technology, equipment, and titans.  Mechanicus forces rarely fully mobilize unless pressured into it by the high lords of terra, OR if their forgeworld was directly threatened.  Perfect setup to include Chaos and AMTL lists in one book, plus opportunity for great fluff.

You know, the first idea I had was to combine AMTL, Orkimedes Gargant Big Mobs and the Eldar Craftworld with lots of Titans (Lugganath or Yme-Loc, I forget it again and again).

As for the Chaos lists, why include them when they are released officially anyway? I thought the supplements were supposed to support lists that will not get an official release for a long time or even never.

That's why I had the above mentioned lists in mind.

I think there would definately be scope for the a supplement containing cult marine lists plus a more focused traitor guard (Blood pact?) together with the Inq list.

Edit- but steering clear of the released chaos lists would make sense :)

TRC, thanks for the words of encouragement...?  ???

I was responding more in general, hence the word most, I know people out there have done good work but we all seem to have great ideas, its just gettingthem realised hasn't happened for most!

But I'm sure yours will work :)

The idea behind having a supplement that includes the official Chaos list is to do a test of formatting and getting everything together for a full supplement.   The point of the supplements is to have Swordwind like supplements for all the 'big' name armies with a few side armies included.  I am not sure about the current DE project - Necrons, Dark Eldar, and Tallarns.  I am not an immediate fan of that selection, but that is just what I think.

So the Chaos one has the Black Legion Chaos Space Marine list, along with 2-3 other armies on the side.
In between each supplement an alternate list (read Speed Freaks or White Scars), that uses primarily already available units and maybe an additional 1 or 2.

Well, the selection won't appeal to everyone.  I am sure there are people out there who are unhappy with the entire Swordwind selection too (Eldar and all).  I personally consider the Necron to be a "big name" - certainly one of the biggest.  Dark Eldar could be considered an eldar variant, so the current plan fits that model.
But if the current project doesn't meet your tastes, consider it a challenge to go participate in another.  A little friendly competition will only benefit the Epic community.  And I'd love to see your work!  (Of course using Lugganath would involve.... ME AGAIN! :p )

Actually I disagree with 'friendly' competition.  Part of the idea of working a supplement is to try and focus the community on a few armies for playtesting and development.

That would depend on the amount of people involved.

It is best to work with 2-3 dedicated people on a Project. Maybe 4.
I experienced this with the Eldar MMS rules. It was just me and Sigoroth and it the end we got Ray Bell in for a rundown.

That way we could make a defintive PDF, put it online. And now it is easy to gather feedback and results and release an update once in a while (1 or 2 small ones a year and 1 time a big one if needed).

Working with lot of people on one projetc will slow it down and will result in more conflict of ideas.
Therefor it is entirely reasonable and in my opinion better that if there are 6 or more people interested to split it and start two different Projects.

Agreed, BH.  The Jews say "Where you have two men you have three opinions" and it is so true.

Developing things by consensus is not always the best way and certainly not the easiest way.  The Dark Eldar project is a classic example.  I'm not going to regurgitate the whole story (people who followed its development read the arguments we had), but most of the problems came about when we tried going from three people to four.  It became just a nightmare (and not the fun nightmare the DE bring to the battlefield).  Fortunately the 'fourth' person finally just walked away.  Within two weeks we had the whole thing completed.

I guess the trick is to strike a balance between autonomy and community - I found this number was best at three.  The current supplement project has much more than that for obvious reasons (more to do) but I believe to be still manageable.

Orangesm, I think you may have taken my comments wrong from your tone.  I wasn't saying to go away if you don't like it.  I was merely pointing out that our supplement is going to go forward regardless of whether some people don't like it.  I think it will be well received in general - maybe I'm wrong?

I don't feel I should be working on a supplement having to do with Chaos or Tau or any of that simply because I had nothing to do with developing those army lists.  I did email Cybershadow and Honda regarding the Tau and Elysians and did share with them our work outline in the hopes they would follow suit and try working on their own.  Whether it happens is up to them.

I don't see anything wrong with taking three good army lists and packaging them so that they look even better.  The friendly competition of one team working on a (fill in the blank) supplement and another on the DE/Tallarn/Necron would be good for keeping things on schedule.

But it would be great too since one team could ask the other, "Hey we're doing this with our layout but have run into some snags... Are you having the same problem?"  You get my drift?

Lastly this is another opportunity for people to show off their talents whether they be writing or pdf layouts or graphic artwork or modeling.  We have taken on one volunteer in the last week and may have another by the week's end.

I am all for friendly development between lists - if two groups want to do Cadians for example let them. Everyone has their own playtest groups and styles. Comparing the two lists susequently online shows the more viable or supported. Take the AMTL, I don't like the knight stuff in it so put a few months doing a mainly titan list. It has problems (its a bit weak against most armies, overpowering against a few) but ultimately works and can simply be a different titan legion as stats wise there are no conflicts.

I think part of the incentive to create a Chaos PDF is NOT because it has official release.  It's mainly to make the list LOOK good and then to include some additional lists.  There's certainly a part of me that wants the chaos lists to look as nice as the Swordwind supplement.  And frankly, that's NOT really that hard to do.  The biggest obstacle is just getting pics of nice painted minis for the book.

And to clarify some earlier psts and PMs to me:  I'm NOT an artist, ie drawing and so forth.  I am an amateur graphic designer (as a hobby) and my brother (who also plays Epic) is a professional graphic designer.  We also have a friend who IS an artist and character designer, who always seems interested in sketching things for us.

Evil and Chaos...... NICE Elysians book you made.  I'm particularly impressed with the photoshopped pics of the guard in actions!  Really great stuff!

E&C:  Nice work.

To everyone who worked on the Third Sphere stuff:  I finally flipped through it and it looks neat.  Lots of cool stuff to play with.  Thanks for all the effort.
