These have been waiting two years for me to decide how to paint them.  Last month I finally decided that I'd paint them in the urban camo scheme I used for the gunship I posted a while back, only I'd use an airbrush to help speed the process up a bit.  Got the base camo pattern down then got sidetracked with several other things (like Sophie, DRM Hubries, CH tanks).  Now that the actual final release version of CAV2 is around the corner (hopefully) I decided they need to be finished.  Anyway, enough rambling, the pic:

I'm not sure how they compare to GWs models size-wise, but was thinking these two might make some decent proxies for Imperial superheavy tanks like the Lance for the Shadowsword. (the Lance is the one on the left)

These 2 models are about perfect matches for Imperial super heavies.  I bought the Hunter because I think it'll make a good Chaos Decimator.  The Lance just looks very cool.

Prices are alot easier on the wallet than GW stuff too.

A big part of the reason I stopped playing 40k.

Very nicely done, Sgt!  The camo looks excellent.  You'll have to post some advice on air-brushing for those of us on here who've little or no experience with it (I hold my hand up with that... :D )

Really what my airbrushing amounts to is treating the airbrush like an accurate spray can.  With these what I did was coat the entire mini with the darkest color.  Then using postertack putty I masked off areas I wanted to remain dark and then airbrushed the next color coating the mini entirely.  Added some more putty to the areas I want to remain the mid color and then airbrush the final color.  After that it's back to brushes and painting the tracks and other details.  I could've done more panel lining and such on these, but I just wanted them done.

Sgt C,

What kind of paint to you use in your airbrush.  Can GW paints be used?

I have an airbrush but I don;t know how to use it.

I use Reaper's Master Series Paints. ?I know Vallejo paints have been used with success as well as Testors. ?Vallejo has a line that's already thinned for airbrush use. ?I haven't heard of many people using GW paints though I suppose you could with lots of thinning. ?The key to using an airbrush is making sure that your paints are thin enough to get through the nozzle without clogging. ?I thin mine just a little thinner than what is usually recommended for "normal" brush painting but not quite to a wash consistency. ?I've even used Apple Barrel craft paint, but that tend to clog up as the pigment isn't as finely ground as it is in most modeling paints.

Take some newspaper, load your brush with water and play with it.  That's what I did with mine.  You get a feel for what you can do with it without wasting paint.

Well there you go, probably why I haven't seen too many people using citadel paints.  Not that I go out of my way to see how different paints act, I'm pretty much sold on Reaper's paints.
