Hi Mojarn,
this one's for you:
Flames of War - Finnish forces

Nice camo scheme there.
Anyone use the Finns in FoW? Anywone here, I mean, they seem very popular on the FoW site! ?
And I'm getting the bug...aaargh!
Sorely tempted by the locals, of course - that is, Italians and British (the latter based in Malta).

Curious - is there a WW1 FoW or equivalent?

And which scales work best? I'd expect 15mm, but what about the rest?

The rising degree of enthusiasm is indicated by the 4th edit of this thread by me.... with the title being changed once.
I even have this idea for a Venetian army in 1943.....  :p

That bug is VERY contagious!

I feel sooo tempted to make a small FoW force myself. Not sure which one though...although I've always wondered if I would be able to paint a proper Panzer grey... :;):

BTW I just noticed this article:
http://www.battlefront.co.nz/Article.asp?ArticleID=527
That's some serious terrain making!

Wow, you're right Warmaster, those factories and buildings are incredible.
So, are you suffering from my same contagion then?

I think so.
I really want to build a small German force but I can't decide if it should be some kind of early war (with panzer grey stuff) or some kind of Eastern front army. I'd kinda like to try my hand at some winther camouflage too.

Bottomline is that I'd like to field a couple of StuGs, possibly a panzer III, IV or Tiger, a couple of field guns, maybe an 88 and of course a bit of infantry. Basically just some of my favourite german units. I guess some kind of mid war force would give me the greatest diversity of units to choose from but I just can't decide which theatre...

In my case I fell in love with the T-28, a Brumbar, the good old Stugs, of course, and several Italian tanks and artilery pieces... which is why my Venice setting would be useful, as I can create-my-own-army. It's hardly likely I'd get a game here, anyway...

Oh, and I've got a couple of destined-to-become-Venetian models, so I wouldn't be violating my own no-mpre-new-armies-rule.... :p

Vanvlak,

I have tried FOW in 15mm and 25/28mm. I did not like it in the larger scale. Felt it lost something in the adjustments up. I like how FOW has a combo feel to it. Some skirmish and some full battle.

As for Finnish. I do not know anyone local who plays them. Lots of Germans, good number of Americans, British, and Italians. Smaller number of Russians (I think it has to do with the number of troops that have to be painted).

In any case, it is a real fun game.

I sorry I missed this post earlier I was re-reading the "last army" thread and eating my humble pie

:p   :;):

Nothing but love V!!!!  :D

I think FOW will work with 6mm as well.

Warmaster,

The early army list are coming out next year.  So you can plan for a Winter 1941 army.

I think so too. After reading Tuffskull's comment on another thread I agree. But I just have not tried it yet.

Now there was a game that gave me a head ache trying to play. Do not know if it was the person teaching me or the game itself, but ouch.

Loved the maps and markers, but the rules. Oh my was I lost 100% of the time, least that is how it felt.
