But then again, I was not going to ignore them if they did it.  :laugh:

My only issue will be cost per miniature as I am not, at this time, planing to play their game.

LOL

Thats pretty much my theory on both counts Dafrca... I would prefer unpainted but if the figs are nice enough I'll pick them up anyways.

And unless it's a stupendously good game on it's own I'll most likely just end up using them as super heavy walkers for SGII...

that second walker looks like a good 40k tau battlesuit proxy if nothing else. the paint job on the first looks excellent but they probably wont painted to that standard for sale i guess.

Some more info on AT-43 I just ran across:

Contents of the box:

   * A 160 page full color Rules handbook in 5 languages (English, Spanish, German, Italian and French), with dozens of photos and illustrations;
   * 24 plastic miniatures, assembled and painted (21 foot soldiers and 3 Combat Striders);
   * 1 game support poster (illustrated on both sides);
   * Terrain elements: 2 generators, 6 low wall sections, 1 container;
   * Game material: 6 Rackham d6, 1 AT-43 ribbon ruler, 1 plastic template and 9 AT-43 reference cards.

http://www.tabletopgamingnews.com/?p=2667#more-2667

And if I'm following the conversation of Rackham's French forums correctly we're looking at a US price of roughly $75-80 for the starter box.

Which isn't too outrageous but I don't know if I really need a 5 language rule book myself...

160 Pages / 5 languages = 32 pages of Rules per language.  Hopefully the game isn't as fiddly as Confrontation. [crosses fingers]

A five language rulebook is a good thing guys. Buy printing one larger book they can combine the volumes for all the different languages and thus get the overall book cheeper.

Printing 5 smaller books and then tracking five different SKUs etc would have a greater cost. This way they print one rule book, get the better rate ber book for volume, and then only have one SKU to worry about.

Smart business in my mind.

I dont know... this puts me off the whole thing generally.

75 US dollars is about 50 UK pounds. For that, I get a 32 page rule book, 24 miniatures that are pre-painted (and only thre are walkers - the rest are human troops that many other makers produce), a template a few bits that I already have from other games.  :(

I probably wont be buying into this game, but if they release the robots unpainted then I may pick up a few for CAV or Defiance.

That is why I was more interested in the "Army Boxes" talked about in that same link. I will wait and see.

Also, someone will sell these on ebay I am sure.  :;):

Perversely enough, I'm nost interested in the rules (but I _am_ a strange person...). Hope they sell the book separately.

Or Rag-Narok for that matter... :(

Or we could split a set. I get the walkers and you get the book.  :;):

I could live with that. Consider it a deal if the rulebook is not available separately.  :)

Hi!

It seems that nowadays 75 bucks the the entry fee for most games and boxed sets...

... remember when the space marine box was 50 bucks?

Those were the days....

Primarch

I remember when 30 plastic Marines were $30.  I bought Legions of Steel for $50 (as well as Warhammer Fantasy 5th? edition, the one with the lizardmen on the cover).  Hell, I bought Flintloque for $30, and the rules without minis go for that much now!

Yes, P, those were the days.  Too bad I was too young to be employed then!

When you are young you have time to play but no money to buy toys. When you grow up the situation is usually reversed.  :(
