I might have another go a developing a 40k version of Bag the Hun .....

That sounds a lot more down the line of what I want for an epic aerial game.
I'll be interested in what they produce and will likely get the rules - how much I use them...

who knows, maybe I can crossbreed PDF Aeronefs and Dirigibles into it! :D   :p

But the Aircraft already exist! That is the thing.

Chaos Aircraft

Ork Aircraft

Eldar Nightwing

Tau Barracuda
Tau Orca
Tau Tigershark
Tau Manta

The Imperial Navy

So we are missing Squats, Tyranids, & Necrons by my count. Most everything is there. Or have I missed something? A good number of the mininatures already exist. ?I already have 4 Thunderbolts & 2 Marauders for the game because I got them for Epic.

Forgeworld tends to release the book/rules once at least most of the stuff is released. And like I said we as a community can ask them for a particular range, they barely need a reason other than a few dozen possible costumers. ?They created the entire Tau Epic range for goodness sakes.

From SG, GW, or FW?

Remember how SG treated the FW stuff before? Reduced to "Proxy" status?

Sorry, your FW does not help me feel better. SG, GW, and FW are three little piss ants who seldom seem to be able to set aside their differances long enough to finalize anything.

Hope you are right, I just will not jump on the "Great Hope" wagon for now.

Overall the game when released should have almost everything either released before it or at the same time.

For those who are going to buy in, I hope you are right and it does not start out like Epic did.

"Hi, here is our new game, oh by the way we pulled most of the Epic off the shelf and killed the line except those figures we want you to have." :o0

I hope the group has not forgotten the closure of the archive or the blocking of Epic sales months before the game was released. :80:

I just hope your trust is well placed, I just know I am out of trust for them.  :/

It is purely FW, GW will not support it in anyway.  SG & FW should talk to each other as they are both more interested in good gaming and good minis than GW tends to be. I have shown the ranges majority of minis for this game already exist and are used in Epic.  The rules however will not be free it will be more like the Imperial Armour books, probably IA:V .

I do not see it as hope that this game will be released with at least the vast majority of minis for it already available from FW, I am basing that on what FW has done in the past, making up for GW main's failures.

You are correct that it is sad that GW has not at least released the minis for all of Epic aside from what it has approved rules and has not supported the various games that have near full ranges of minis already.

But FW has the licenses to do just that - remake the previous minis sadly in resin but still available.

On to the game. Do we think it will be at merely mission level or larger? Is a game going to have 5-10 aircraft per side?

And working for a company that makes a large amount of cash based on the licenses we issue, I just hope GW does not exert their pissy attitude when someone else is doing well, and damage it.

Believe it or not, I do not wish it ill. I just don't have any hope left.

As for the scope, I think the original post when it said:

...?Aeronautica Imperialis? is far more than just dog-fighting; there will be bombing missions, intercept sorties, troop insertions and extractions, strike missions, as well as pure air-to-air, fighter-vs-fighter combat. ....... We?ve also designed a new plastic flying base for the aircraft to use that cleverly shows arcs of fire as well as keeping track of the speed and altitude too.

Seemed to be saying it would be closer to skirmish then tactical. If you are tracking altitude, speed, and fire arcs for each plane it can not get too large before that slows down. But that is just an opinion, not fact.

So much effort for a new game and none for existing games. Sounds like gamers to me. :;):

Hi!

I sometimes wonder why they put so much effort into one aspect of warfare when epic could include them ALL....  :;):

And the Arvus would be the IG Lift Ship ... as the T-hawk is for the SMs. ?That being said, a scenario, with Fighters flying CAP and Bombers preping the LZ, then the assault eschlon doing a forced entry into a hot LZ sounds like a fun game. ?However after 3+ years in the 101, I always insert my assault troops (SMs in T-hawks) into a Cold LZ and maneuver on the OBJ from there ... ?Less losses that way ... I insert Drop Pods on top of the OBJ, with T-hawks and Dropships on the flanks and hopefully into Cold LZs/DZs ... ?Just my technique ... ? ? ?:D :;):

That's not a big problem for me dafrca - used to be, as I depended SOLELY on GW for models, but not any more. So I get the rules (and I'm not one to worry if they remain unchanged subsequently - if they get loads of suplements, it just means forking out more $!) and I get a few aircraft (well, already have those, and it seems I don't need too many), and I'm happy enough (with another game I'll never find anyone to play against....  :p  )

True, I can't fault Rules Set Collecting. I mean I own how many games and rule sets?

More then I need, that is for sure.

Paint your marines blue and call them ultraimarines.  That way you will fell less bad about dropping them into a hot LZ.  :p

Nah, if I was going to toss away chapter knowing they were going to be chopped to bits, I would paint them red and call them the "Blood Angels".  :;):

Yep the truth when spoken about GW is often sad these days.

But look at the bright side, it opens the door of opportunity for people like Doug and Company.

There is Silver if you want to see it.

Sounds like we might see an Epic scale Thunderhawk Transporter...

Yep, it does, doesn't it?

That settles it, I'm definately giving the Grey Knights thunderhawk transporters...

Although I can't imagine what huge point they'll have other than as a moving objective in the new game though.
