Nice bat rep Chroma!

The writhing supreme commander and the dudes on goof-balls made me chuckle. :D

Thanks stugmeister!  I aim to please, you aim too, please!  *laugh*

Well, I got a note from a reader that, while still good, my recent BatReps had been lacking in the "amusement" factor (mainly because I'd been pumping so many out!), so I kept my eyes open for places to put in my trademarkered humourous views on the battle... glad you liked them!

The terrible thing I found with them as that, as they are rarely in cover, while their infantry usually are, the opponent can just decide "not to fire at targets in cover" and hose down the Raiders with all their fire which is, in my opinion, very devestating for Dark Eldar.

Infantry only get the -1 to hit from being in cover from touching AVs not LVs couldn't tell from your posts if you played this way or not but I've found quite a few people make this mistake.

Yep, I knew that about LVs not giving Inf cover, I meant that I usually deploy my Warriors in the cover of ruins or woods with the Raiders just touching them, but outside the scenery piece, for easy pickups. ?So, the Inf are in cover, but the LVs aren't, but I don't think it's worth the risk of putting the LVs in the ruins or woods as they die on "1"... ?*sigh*  Though they are dying anyway, maybe I'll try it...

Chroma,

Great batrep!  I think the game was excellent and showed a lot of the strengths and weaknesses of the Dark Eldar.  Questions for you:
1) Did you feel the the 2:1 support ratio and lack of core options inhibited your game? Would adding Ravagers and VoPs to the Core list (currently being reviewed by us) improve your support selection?
2) What is your feel on warriors in terms of their effectiveness?

Everyone,
All three of us (Scarik, Xisor, and I) agree that the Dark Eldar are too fragile right now.  The trick is what to adjust.

Moving the Ravagers and the Raiders to an AV status is not an option right now.  For one, they aren't armored vehicles.  In addition, changing them to AVs would preclude them from webway portal use.  Both of these things fly in the face of the Dark Eldar thematically and what we originally intended for them.

My personal feeling is that they could be moved to a 4+ armor as Ilushia suggested.  This would have three effects:
1) It would improve their survivability.
2) It would encourage troops to stay embarked (using the assault deck rule).
3) It will improve the army's mobility.
These changes would definitely help the DE since those two vehicles are going to be quite common in any DE army.

I'm not convinced the Mandrakes need changing (yet).  But it isn't a closed discussion.

I will post a batrep soon (this weekend) for the DE.

I concur with the 4+ Raider armour.

A few other 'thoughts' I'd had, that I should raise at the moment for folks to consider:

Kabal Coteries: IMO(and also what I'd intended all along, but someone coughmoscoviancough tampered with them in the process...) these should come with 4 Incubi Stands, 2 Raiders and the Dracon upgrade at about 300pts. Thus 4 with an Archon comes in at 350pts.

Vehicles in General: Everything apart from Raiders should be allowed access to character upgrades.

These are mainly things we've been discussing 'behind the scenes', but fel I should raise them here in the interests of a bit of diverser opinions.

Also: Tremendous battle report! Very eye-opening!

Xisor

I didn't tamper with it - I just had no idea what you were talking about.  :(8:  :80:

It'll be corrected - but I think in this particular battle the 50 points would not have made much difference.

Even though it appears we may be moving in a specific direction for the 4+ armor, I'd still encourage everyone to stick with the existing 1.0.1 list so we can adequately judge the list.

It won't be long before 1.1 hits the scene.

Questions for you:
1) Did you feel the the 2:1 support ratio and lack of core options inhibited your game? Would adding Ravagers and VoPs to the Core list (currently being reviewed by us) improve your support selection?
2) What is your feel on warriors in terms of their effectiveness?

1) I *like* the 2:1 support ratio and strongly feel that only the two current Kabal formations (Coterie and Syndicate)should remain as the "Core" choices, with all the other non-Titan/Aircraft coming from the "Support" section.

Allowing Ravagers and VoPs as "Core" would mean Dark Eldar could field an entire "tank" army, which seems *totally* out of character.  Perhaps having used Lost and the Damned so much the idea of 2 "Support" per 1 "Core", as opposed to the LatD 1:1, isn't much of a hindrance to me.

2) Well, my Warriors died like prickly flies, so I didn't get to see them do much.  With their upgrades and such, I think they could be very nasty, but I haven't had much of a chance to do anything with them; I'll try and experiment more in future games, but I think their 200 point cost should *include* a Dracon.
