What happened to netepic.org? I was just looking at the news page to find that you were TOLD to remove your AT and Space Marine information. Seems a little odd to me.
Maybe they are trying to push Epic:A a little more than the older stuff. Epic40K.com has some older stuff on it, I hope we don't have to get rid of that as well.
Cheers
Chris

Hi!
I had told TOm long ago to expect such a move sooner or later. Over the 6 year period that net epic has run, we have been "reviewed" many times. Tom can attest to this since on other occasions they have asked to remove certain pictures and other GW stuff.
So I wasn't surprised when Tom told me about GW's communication with him. Its typical for them to do "web scourges" for every game on a regular basis and epic was due.
Once the new game comes out and they pass into indifference again you'll see more stuff like those files pop-up again, its an inevitable cycle.

Hi!
Yes, I saw it and see my response.
Like I said, GW has NO POWER, to curtail free speech, so unless this forum is owned by them, they dont have much of a legal recourse.

this is a UK based forum and GW is a UK based company
regardless of what people think, people in the UK do not have right to say what they like... there is no free speech
if I said (and this is an example)
Company A is charging stupid prices for their products or Company A has no idea about marketing
then legal action can be taken against me for slander
there are a large number of laws which restrict what we can say in a public domain (such as this forum) - libel, slander, etc...

Hi!
My resposes on the original thread were with the caveat " in the US". If this board is in the UK and laws there are different there (which I wouldn't know), then I guess we can't say what we like.
Libel, in the US at least, puts the burden of proof on the accuser, since he must prove "irreparable harm" as a consequence of the spoken word. That does not exclude frivolous law suits of course, but those rarely get anywhere if they cannot prove the above. How else could tabloids florish in the US.....
In any event, point taken, these boards are not in the US, therefore I most certainly be careful what I say.

Just wanted to add my comments here.
This board is based in the UK. I am in the UK, and the servers and located in the UK as well. Additionally, I support free speech in as many ways as possible.
Most things can be said. The guidelines are that it should not infringe GW's copyright, or be considered to be opinion which is detrimental to the company (and this goes for any businesses or individuals discussed, not just GW). I have been extremely careful not to use any copyrighted material on my site and these boards, and placed te relevant disclaimers. In general, while heavy handed, GW's legal team seem fair and reasonable. If we are fairly logical and rational about what we place here, they will be OK. I have refused articles for my site which have reprinted rules, for example, and instead added links to the official source.
All the best.

Hi!
That indeed is the best policy. In our experience (net epic) as long as you use your own pictures and produce your own fluff and rules (re-writting them in your own words), its okay.
Also, remeber that its GW's legal department that sets the rules, not Jervis or other designers at GW. In case of the AT files at the Epicentre, Jervis had no problem with us having them available, but he doesn't have the last say in this regard. So its important to address things like this to the specific department, they take a while to respond, but they generally do.
Besides taking your own photos, writting stories etc, not only gives us a lot to talk about, but its fun!
