Hold me back, Primarch. I might not be able to control myself. ?

I love my epic Squat army. I think that GW did a fairly good job of depicting Squats at the epic level. Agreed, in 40k they were silly, but I don't think they come off as that in epic, where they are more than a goggles-wearing, biker gang. In epic they are craftsman and artisans, skilled miners and mechanics, producing mighty warmachines. The Imperium has the Squats to thank for the Leviathan and other vehicles. Furthermore, I have yet to see an epic Squat army painted in clown colors.

Dw_Sup,

Well stated, although I don't know if you covered these,

"the most rediculous army ever"
"cruel joke the way they were developed"
"HUGE clown boots, in Vietnam fatigues"
"welding goggles"
"repainted circus clowns riding Harley's"

:o0 ?

Viva La' Stunty... err... ehem! :(8:

I never liked the biker thing (especially putting Exo-Armour troops on trikes...) but I think of the following types of designs when I think of how the Demiurg could be:

Gorten Grundback

Grundback Gunner

Ghordson Driller

Hammerfall High Shield Gun Corps

I don't want bikers, I want Demiurg made the way they should be.

Nerroth, nice looking minis. I could see Squats looking like that. I do like Squats on bikes and trikes, but the Squat in exo-armor on a bike did seem a little odd.

And they were sculpted my Mike McVey (I think), too...

(Plus their new Skorne figures look like they'd make great Dark Eldar troops!)

Honda and Red Devil must believe in the ancient Tau ways of trial by fire...

For the record, all my comments were pointed directly at the WH40K reprisentation of the "squats".  They were clowns wearing vietnam G.I. clothing.  I mean they actually named the whole race "Sqauts", common!  Sure, Eldar were harlequins and mimes dressed up in circus clothes back in the day.  But at least people like the tall slim clowns that can do crazy acrobatics, and make animal baloons.  Everyone just laughs at the short slapstick comedy clowns that trip over their size 18 floppy shoes, while 15 of them scramble into a VW beatle (sqauts).

Now if GW had made them look like the Models that Nerroth linked, and given them a name that didn't immediatly make you roll your eyes (sqauts), I would have probably collected them.

At least the Demiurg have already fixed one problem (the silly name) if they turn out to be Space Dwarves.  Lets hope that they don't get ruined as well.

P.S.  I still think the Vespid are cool, and I hope to see more alien auxillaries available to Tau.

Oh and I should also weigh in that I was just kidding. Personally, I don't have any qualms about the , I just thought that they ended up being a race that succumbed to artistic license and without a common vision, they suffered (e.g. Exo-bike armor).

If you were really going to develop them into a list, someone should consider building a force that would put the Iron Warriors to shame, true siege specialists. Then the artillery, exo-armor, and monster trucks would exist for a reason.

The other thing I struggle with conceptually is bikes period. I know John Blanche rode a Harley in th early days (or something close), but as a fighting unit, they just don't seem to fit. I guess that's why we call it fantasy...Oops! wrong game.

I see the Squats (short, fat, Technocrats, with an attitude!), as a heavy slow, not very mobile force, save for their bikes and trikes ! ?WE still use the SM1 Squat Outrider rules (send a small faster, ?part of your force on a flanking maneuver ! ?Off board to appear by a random die roll !). ?So the main slow heavy force is the "Anvil" and the Outriders - the "Hammer" ! :;): ?And I really see the Epic Universe as a retro-hi-tech version of WWII Sci-fi ... with the Eldar and now the Tau ... the true Aliens ! ?:alien: :D ? ?And never like Blanche's stuff plus G/W-F/W suffers from being artist driven as opposed to what is needed to make good fluff and inturn a good wargame ! ?If Tony C. makes another version of a German-ish IG AFV, I'm going to smack him ! ? How many versions of a Baneblade or L/Russ do we need ! ?But I still think the Vespids are a good idea ! ?And very SCi-fi !  :8):

CHOMP! GULP! BURURURURURPPPP!

Hi all Dwarf/Squat/tiny People Fans,
as I started to play with GW as they released the second Edition of WHFB (the one with the 3 Booklets), I learned that Dwarfs are formidable allies to every Race, and tough opponents , (did I mentioned that I don?t like little fat man?) . The only thing IMHO that GW never got right is the main appearance and Fluff side of the Space Dwarves. Even more I disliked them as I first saw the Army in Space Marine, those little buggers riding Bikes like the Guys from the Oyster Bar. Their Land Train was another Misconcept for use in Wartime. Maybe as pure Transporters they fulfill their role, but as a Fighting Machine, I doubt. In my time , as I played with them ( as allies) they never got to be a full size Army of it?s own. The lack of Tanks gave them the only hope that their Artillery and the Cyclops do the job, maybe the Colossus too, but thats it. I remeber that when they were fighting against my Tyranids, they lost every time. The nids were too fast, and the Arty beeing unable to redeploy was lost early on when I dropped with Spores. But thats a long time ago. Speaking of Clowns : The only Clowns I ever saw were the Harlequins, and I love Eldar too, besides the Tau, which weren?t existant. So you had to imagine an Eldar Army in Biel?Tan Colors , and then those fancy bright and colorful Harlequins right in the middle - yes THEY were the Clowns - but a killer Type. So speaking, although I dont like Dwarves ( I think as no Eldar/Elves player does) I respect them to a degree, that I would allow them to Break the Bread with me, in any Color, in any Suit they wear. There might be another membrance Strings, but I don?t recall them by now....

Cheers!
Steele

P.S.: Does someone remember Bugman? And his famous Beer?
