Why in god's name is GW including an AA vehicle in the Codex? ?The Stingray would kinda make sense (as much sense as the Basilisk does, anyway), but a SKYray? ?WTF, GW?!? ?Besides, GW is trying to keep the 'TACAIR' out of the 40k table, IIRC.

Something to think about. It will be the only vehicle that carries more than 2 seekers. The IA3 version comes as a fire support vehicle ala Stingray, and then you can upgrade the vehicle to support AA.

Given how ML's are supposed to work, the Pathfinder/Skyray pair may become a very scary option for any single squad or vehicle.

I've heard more than once that GW (one source is very solid) will be producing their own plastic Pirannha's, Skyray, and Tetra.

Apparently, they have really been able to take advantage of the new technology to produce things that they never would have considered before.

Still rumour, but just thinking about it gives me the warm and fuzzies.

:D

Why are people fixated on Squats!?  They were the clowns of 40k; the most rediculous army ever.  No where near the grand nation they are in Fantasy!  Space Dwarves were a cruel joke the way they were developed.  These Vespid look way better then a short, overweight model, stubby arms holding a gun up in the air, HUGE clown boots, in Vietnam fatigues, with welding goggles over his eyes.  They should be a grand army, with finely crafted war vehicles.  Not repainted circus clowns riding Harley's.

They should be the Eldar in craft and beauty, but designed strong and sturdy instead of fragile and light.  And more importantly they should be their own race, and not auxillaries for Tau.

Let them have a good death.  The Vespid at least have a chance to be bad-@$$.

ROFLMAO

There's more than one squat fan out there that's going to have a heart attack from your post.

Those that don't, well... should be entertaining.

- may you RIP Red Devil.

I'll stand shoulder to shoulder with you Red, leave all that "raise the dead" stuff (i.e. Squats) for WFB and Warmaster.

:/

I understand Tactica ... my point being, instead in supporting each other, Epic and 40K seem to be polarized ... But the Tau may be the exception ... :alien:  AS far as Squats, many of us old school types have Epic Squats, and like'm !  And I don't paint my stuff in circus colors ... check out the pic of my stuff, been posting them weekly !  And we don't play 40K and think the rules have always been Clown rules !   That's another reason we don't play !  :;):   If you guys have been around the time SM2 (and maybe you were ?!) was released, the Orks were the Clowns in Space and everything was painted in Circus colors !     That being said ... I like the Vespid idea ... the more ... the Merrier !  And the Squats never died in many of our Epic Universes !!!

L4,

Don't know why I was sited in your response here...

You know Red Devil was the one that posted the squat thing, not me, right? I'm on your side L4.

I just thought his post was funny.

I reponded to you regarding the '40K doesn't help' post that you had mentioned earlier when we were talking about the various new items coming in the 40K tau world in the near future.

Regarding my Epic experience, been playing since Titan Legions hit the shelves. ;)

Cheers L4,

No "T", I meant I understand what you said, I didn't mean I disagree with you ! ? :;): ?I should have made two different posts ... didn't think you were wrong. ? And I didn't mean to attack anyone ... I  just like the Tau and have an Epic Squat force and don't like 40K ! ?But as I always say, "do what works for you !" ? And I know you have been doing some good work on the Tau ...

Thank you L4. We all have done the work though, I'm just the typist. ;)

We couldn't have put together the WIP list without the help of everyone on this board thats been active since JG's departing days.

I am glad to hear that you like most of what's in the WIP list though.

Cheers,

I'm with L4 on the clown nature of 40k rules and the old Orks.  I'm also not a fan of the direction the Space Dwarfs Squat took, and nor were the studio which is ultimately why they were dropped.  However, they were, and still are, great in Epic and have now resurfaced in BFG which gives hope to those of us in the old guard that still feel that we are owed something for the 'my homeworld got eaten by the bugs' excuse.  And genestealers becoming Tyranid slaves.  In fact the 'nids have a lot to answer for to those of us that were brought up on Rogue Trader fluff.

Just to clarify my position on things regarding the EA/40K issue. 40K development only 'gets in the way' if we become obsessed by it. My personal philosophy is to try to remain true to the character of the Tau force in larger battles. This does not mean that we will necessarily slavishly follow 40K development, but if EA development and 40K development both follow this character then the lists should be comparable as an effect of the development, rather than the development being the effect of following the rules systems.

Shake ups in 40K are a reaction to the rules in 40K. If a system or organisation works in Epic, producing the right feel and effects then I dont feel that we should change to something worse simply because that is what happens in 40K.

Tactica nods to CS

Well stated and glad to hear your position. I fully agree.

Primarch

Hold me back, Primarch. I might not be able to control myself.

I love my epic Squat army. I think that GW did a fairly good job of depicting Squats at the epic level. Agreed, in 40k they were silly, but I don't think they come off as that in epic, where they are more than a goggles-wearing, biker gang. In epic they are craftsman and artisans, skilled miners and mechanics, producing mighty warmachines. The Imperium has the Squats to thank for the Leviathan and other vehicles. Furthermore, I have yet to see an epic Squat army painted in clown colors.

I know step down from my soapbox!   :p

And, welcome to the forum, RedDevil.

I agree with you wholeheartedly, CS. E:A should mirror the "flavor" of all armies in 40k, but not slavishly following too closely to 40k.
