They’re like a glass rapier

I'd more say

Eldar - Glass Hammer
Dark Eldar - Crystal Rapier/Sword

Eldar are fragile but great at what they do whilst DE are better but just so delicate. As once it starts to go wqrong for the DE they might as well pack up and go home.

We Swedes are amazed that E-UK Skitarii seems to be considered to be a low-tier list. Some of the formations (notably the Minoruses) are borderline broken. The Sentry formations are excellent activations boosters, and the Praetorians can garrison and soak enemy activations very efficiently. As long as you don't make the mistake of taking something squishy as your BTS (i.e. Majoris) it's a list that has amazing firepower and resilience.

Here's a list I took to a tournament at the weekend, and ended up in fourth place with.

If I ran it again, I would replace the Knights (which are too fragile) with something else. Maybe 2 Maruder Bombers or 3 Thunderbolts.

Here's a variant of a list I've run at an earlier tournament where I took a Warlord instead of the Reaver. It had great firepower but was too slow and defensive. Think this could work better.

Oh yes, I've experienced this alot lately. The formations just disappear one by one all of a sudden. The alternative scenario that RichardL designed is really really hard for the DE list to manage. No staying power what so ever.

I still like the list though. Great design and very fluffy.

Completely agree about DE being the mother of all glass cannons. That said, I think they’re my second highest win rate army (outside Krieg).

They’re pretty much my favourite army design.

Interesting the mrdiealot et al have had some success with Skitarri. They’ve really struggled here, even with similar builds to those suggested.

That said, not a lot of the top guys have run them.

I'm thinking about running this list which i feel could be quite good. Really hard to do air assaults without getting hit but 1-2 hydras at a time (15 AA shots on the board). Lots of shooting.
BTS and Sentries holds DtF objectives on OW. Sagitarii and Gorgon Skitariis pushes forward to take objectives on centerline supported by thunderbolts. pinpoint and OB can do some extra damage...
On paper it looks good to me...

Once you get used to playing against Dark Eldar they can be a laughably easy matchup, conversely it’s never easy facing off against hordes (Freaks), lots of Reinforced Armour (Sons), and decent War Engines (Squats) as they have no Achilles Heel.

Interesting that one Rug. I actually really like DE into 1k sons cos they have good tools to knock out defilers and the range to assault the retinues and kill the sorcerers depriving them of pact. Agree squats is rough. Amazing overwatch and AA plus their base infantry are really solid in CC.

I'm curious why speed freeks are 'top tier' over ghaz orks? the stats for the list are skewed quite badly by the results of Jon Mielcarek who really was the predecessor to Dan in figuring out how to leverage the most skewed list builds... his flying circus list that has an 11-2-1 record really bulks up the win column for the speed freeks.... thing is I reckon you could build a stronger list using ghaz orks.... the main strength of the list was the 16 fightas zooming around every turn, if folks started running that kind of airforce in the ghaz list they would probably start picking up just as many wins...

For what it's worth, the list I used can be built exactly the same using the ghaz list, minus the free warboss biker model.

The odd thing is soooo many lists are one tweak away from being incredible.
Its a really hard balance between giving a list a flaw (TS, no scout) and making the flaw fatal (Hamlet, indecision).
I like the idea of genuinely finding a list that so shit your opponent is bored to beat it, and then trying to improve it like the guys have done with World Eaters.

- P.s like the scitarri, it's always been difficult not to make them a fake mans fake Krieg.
