Hello,

Id like to get some advice on a 3k Death korps of krieg. Id like to get some serious feed back on the list considering im VERY new to epic. Ive only skimmed over the rulebook, im the type of player who learns the rules by playing them, i could read the rules 100 times but ill never truly get a grasp of them. Ive got some of the models but not many so id like to get some feedback now.

Regimental HQ company- 19 Death Korps infantry units plus a Supreme commander unit, Fire support unit (475)

Infantry company- 19 Death Korps infantry units plus a commander unit, 2 Gorgon siege transporters, Tank squadron with 3 Leman russ demolishers (625)

Death Rider company- 12 Death rider units (250)

Tank platoon- 1 Leman Russ Vanquisher, 5 Leman russes (390)

Self Propelled Heavy support- 3 Bombards (250)

Light suport battery- 4 quad launchers (200)

Heavy Support Battery- 3 Heavy AA guns (125)

Super Heavy Tank platoon- 1 Shadowsword (200)

Legio support- 2 Warhound Titans (500)

Total- 3015

I personally think this is a fairly well balanced list, my main opponent will likely be eldar for the time being. My friend may also buy orks in the future.

Ive got a decent amount of infantry, the plain infantry company will attempt to take and hold while my regimental commander can provide fire support. The rough riders give me a solid assaulting/ screening force and the Leman Russes should prove to be a well rounded formation. Ive got some AA, but im admirably very light on it, The bombards could possibly be dropped for a flight of thunderbolts and something else. Lastly ive got the shadowsword for anti titan work and my warhounds should prove to be a fantastic harassing formation.

Please give me some C&C!

You want Gorgons on your Reg HQ, ditch the fire support upgrade.

I'm not a fan of the Fire Support upgrade. A few BM's on the Company as a whole and they can't shoot anymore. They're overpriced for what they give you really.

As with the Fire Support, I tend to think Leman Russ upgrades are overpriced and the points would be better spent elsewhere.

Not a fan of Bombards, I think they're probably only worth 200pts, and only then when you've already got 2 other artillery formations that can already hit the enemy in their deployment zone.

I prefer to have 2x Hydra platforms + 1x heavy AA gun.
The Hydras are notably better, but the single heavy AA gun can offer a little extra spice with its extra range.

I'd try to split up the Warhounds into two separate formations if possible.

Hey Dobbie,

i started playing the Death Korps a couple months ago as well and got a good dozen games against various opponents under my belt.

While playing with the EpicUK list though, I can tell you some of my experiences so far:

- Keep your HQ/Infantry companies on their bare minimum.
While they are the meat of your army, they are taking up a lot of points with their mandatory Gorgons already. Also second E&C's comment that most upgrades are not effective enough compared to other things in the list.

- Gorgons are wicked! ;)

- Have something to counter your opponents artillery!
Your troops can't afford to take even one template while not in cover! With no armour save there is no tomorrow for them. It seems obvious but can't be stressed out enough ;)
Have artillery yourself or 1-2 formations of Thunderbolts. (I am playing Thunderbolts atm, will try some Earthshakers in the future)

- Death Korps is a FIREFIGHT assault army!
Again I am sorry if I am stating the obvious but the temptation to swarm your opponent with your bazillion stands is huge (at least it was for me, hehe) but you won't gain any advantage from base to base combat. Keep your distance, prevent your opponent from throwing extra CC dice and it will also help you with their relative slow movement compared to other assault armies.
Moreover, try to place your Gorgons in front of your dudes to soak up countercharges and wounds - they can take a hell of a beating! Avoid blocking your line of sight though.

- Go for 4+/5+ (area of terrain) cover as quick as possible!
You won't believe how tuff 20 stands in 4+ ruins/buildings cover are!
More and more I experienced that a DKoK infantry formation in 4+ cover is a great anvil for most of your opponents stuff. I tried to have them "camp" in cover next to a objective while your second (or third) formation plays hammer and is free to react to your opponents moves. Worked out pretty good for me so far :)

List wise I would go along with what has been sad already.
- Split your Warhounds in two formations. The extra activation will come in handy!
- Give a second AA formation a try, having them covering a table half each.
- Try Earthshakers or Deathstrikes instead of Bombards/Quad Launchers.
- Alternatively, see if you could free up some points for Thunderbolts

Unfortunately, can't comment on the Death Rider Company... would be interested to hear how they are performing! :)
Same for a formation of Macharius tanks!
