Hi all, Have to start by saying that Orks aren't really my list but I picked some up cheap and decided that it would be good to have some more variety in the armies I have available as there are only a couple of people who play in my area. So how does this look for a start? Big Warband - 850 (BTS) Warband (Big) 105 +3x Gunwagon 70 +2x Flakwagon 250 +2x Battlefortress 75 +3x Boyz Stormboyz Warhorde - 150 Kult of Speed - 250 7 Buggies 3 bikes Kult of Speed - 250 7 Buggies 3 bikes Big Gunmob - 415 225 Mekboy Gunmob (Big) 50 +Oddboy 70 +2x Flakwagon 70 +2x Nobz Big Blitz Brigade - 435 2 Flak and 6 Gunwagons 50 +Oddboy 135 +Gunfortress 650 Gargant I am happy to change stuff around but have too keep the basics of the models the same as that is what I have and I don't want to invest much more cash in to the army. The extras I have to play with at the moment are lots and lots of Boyz, 1 Big Gun, 4 or 5 stands of Boarboys (counts as Bikes?), some more buggies (not sure how many yet). I am planning on converting all of the fortresses out of the FW Battlewagon kit so at the moment all 3 fortresses are still Battlewagonz. I can spend a little more but it will have to be a really good reason. Thanks in advance for your c&c Kris |

Remember WEs can be picked out of a formation. A Shadowsword can drop half your mob in a single shot. Either go with AVs only, or take only WEs with Flak. (see notes on Blitz Brigade) Quote: Big Gunmob - 415 225 Mekboy Gunmob (Big) 50 +Oddboy 70 +2x Flakwagon 70 +2x Nobz Only one oddboy? Take two, I use Soopagunz in my Gunzmobs. That's two MW templates. Also, having more than one unit above 15cm speed means this unit may not garrison. Gunz mobs are only 10cm move, so they need to be up front unless it is used as a Blitz Guard. Another option here is to add Big Gunz to a foot Warband. Several of my Big Warbands have 6x Big Gunz and 2x Oddboyz (Soopagun) attached. Quote: Big Blitz Brigade - 435 2 Flak and 6 Gunwagons 50 +Oddboy 135 +Gunfortress Again, max out your Oddboyz. Here I'd take Soopazzaps though. Same deal on the WEs, go big or go home. I might even pull your Gunwagons and a flakwagon from the big warband, and replace them with the Gunfortress. Make this Brigade 'uge, and throw in a third Oddboy with ZZap. Boarboyz as bikes is pretty standard, unless you feel like some Savage action down the road... Good luck, it's not easy being green, but it's amusing! |

May be worth breaking the big mob and big big gunz formations into two "normal" size formations. This will increase your activation count, reduce your susceptibility to clipping and give you opponent more to think about. Also worth bearing in mind that big gunz don't benefit from mob rule. |

OK I thought I could look at it a diffrent way. Here is a list of what I have; 1 Gargant 2 Battlefortresses 1 Gunfortress 8 gunwagons 6 flakwagons 1 gunwagon with zap gun 18 Buggies 6 Bikes 6 stormboyz 8 Nobz (one has a warboss in it) 14 Komandoz 12 Grotz more than enough Boys to fill out whatever (I am only limited by the number of bases I have to put them on) 10 Big Gunz 1 Slaver with Supa gun I could convert some more Oddboys with out too much hassle but they would have to be based on one of the models I already have as I am not spending any more money on this army. So fill your boots and see what you guys can come up with. I just can't get my head around the Ork list for some reason. I am fine with my Dark Angels and my ADTL there are just too many options for me. Thanks for your help. Kris |

Without Landa's, Fighta Bommers or Scorchas you cant really make the most powerful ork lists, but for general play something like the following would be fine. Big Warband + 2 Boyz + 2 Grots - 400 pts Big Warband + 2 Boyz + 2 Grots - 400 pts Gargant - 650pts Big Blitz Brigade (2 Gunwagons - Supa Zzap Oddboys, 3 Gunwagons, 3 Flak wagons) - 350 pts Big Blitz Brigade (2 Gunwagons - Soopa Gun Oddboys, 3 Gunwagons, 3 Flak wagons) - 350 pts Big Kult of Speed (6 Bikes, 10 Buggies) - 350 pts Kult of Speed (8 Buggies) - 200 pts Stormboys (6 Stormboys) - 150 pts Mekboy Guns Mob (6 Big Guns) - 150 pts 9 activations is OK (although 10 would be better if you can find it), but as I said without the air assault power of Landas, the general Harrasment AT and air cover of fighta bommers and the FF4+ of scorchas it might be a little underpowered. Also probably a little low on flak wagons. Plus you would have to find a single gun wagon from somewhere and as you say convert up some Soopa guns ad supa zzaps. |

yme-loc is spot on IMO. I'll just add some commentary on how/why. Gargant: use it aggressively, force your opponent to deal with it. Ideally you want to leverage its FF support power by doubling it close to a target in assault range of another formation. Warbands: keep to cover when advancing across the board. Use the Gargant to cover their flank against clipping (nobody will assault within its support range). Leverage the grot no assault resolution rule to make them effective in assaults. Kults of Speed: use to initiate or support assaults. Their speed allows them to assault at greater range than most of your formations. If facing enemy artillery they are vulnarable, so take it out quick if you can. Keep them back early in turn 1 and double or march into position near the end of the turn. Stormboyz: either used as scout "speed bumps", where you garrison them spread out to interfere with enemy movement, or use them as expendable assault initiators. Alternatively if they stay unharmed into turn 3 they are very good at spreading out to gather multiple objectives. Gunzmob: garrison on OW. Either in a forward position (if there is nice cover with LOS to an important part of the board) or off the blitz. Blitz Brigades: these units will be priority targets for the enemy (due to the Oddboyz) so keep them out of LOS in deployment where possible. And with the soopagunz don't be afraid to try to sustain fire with them, you may fail but you can still shoot, and with the +1 to hit if you activate the MW barrages become extremely damaging. |

Here's what I would go with: Normal Mob + Battlefortress 325 Normal Mob + Battlefortress 325 Normal Mob 200 Normal Mob 200 Big Blitz Brigade + Oddboy (2 flakwagons, 6 gunwagons) 300 Big Kult of Speed (mix of bikes and buggies) 350 Normal Kult of Speed (mix) 200 Gargant 650 Stormboyz 150 Normal Big Gunz + Oddboy 175 Normal Big Gunz 125 |

It's more activations, but Oddboy upgrades are generally superior in Blitz Brigades than Gunzmobs. The upgrade is applied to a better unit; faster, AV instead of Inf, gains the Orky Mob rule and a better armour save in all circumstances other than 4+ cover. Only advantage of gunzmobs is the ability to garrison on OW, but then you would probably be better off adding Big Gunz to a warband. The Oddboyz are also generally better in pairs, especially the Soopa gunz. |

So can a Big Blitz Brigade with a potential 120cm range and 6DC damage for 350pt. |

Post subject: | Re: 3000 Point Ghazgkhull's hoard list |
Quite. Those Big Gunz are less intimidating if you have anything that can target them beyond 60cm (or air craft). Its not a useless formation or anything, but the Blitz Brigade is superior IMO. Any mobile threat is harder to avoid than a static one. |

clausewitz wrote: It's more activations, but Oddboy upgrades are generally superior in Blitz Brigades than Gunzmobs. I agree. The guy's only got one zappy wagon model though. On the other hand I do actually like them in the gunzmob, can be in cover on overwatch with at least as good a save. |

True. But I would advise him to aim at yme-loc's list and do some conversions to build toward that. I found that it was often more useful to garrison the warbands in the good cover than using up a spot for static gunz. And if/when you run out of cover its handy to be able to put a warband on OW, for the cover save it grants. |

Hi all, I have had a look at the list again and had a look at the stuff I have and tried to take the advice on-board. This is what I am going to try for a few games and I will give you a bit of a commentary for each unit and then see what you all think. Big Warband, Warlord - 350 Normal Warband, 1 Boyz, 1 Grotz, 5 Gunwagonz, 1 Flakwagon, 1 Gunfortress - 570 Big Blitz Brigade, 2 Flak, 6 Gun with two Zap guns - 350 Normal Blitz Brigade, 2 Flak, 2 Gun - 150 Big Kult of Speed, 16 Buggies - 350 Normal Kult of Speed, 6 Bikes, 2 Buggies - 200 Big Gun Mob, 2 Nobz, 1 Flak, 1 Sooper gun - 380 Gargant - 650 (BTS) So I plan on being fairly aggressive with the Gargant, mounted warband and big Kult trying to force the opponent to deal with them. The Warlords Warband will normally lerk around one of the objectives on my side of the table with the small Blitz Brigade close by to give them a bit of AA support unless it it needed elsewhere. The Gun Mob I plan on using to guard my blitz most of the time with their only impact on the game being to keep my back lines covered. The Kult with the warbikes and the big Blitz Brigade are to be used as required to fill any holes or try to expose. I would like more activations and think the Gun Mob my prove to be too big (I want the two stands of Nobz in there) but keeping the Gargant in as the BTS eats up the points and could prove risky against some armies. Any more thoughts and I will let you know how it goes as I am hoping to get some games in this weekend. Kris |

Best thread revival ever but as I am getting back to epic again and it is time to start painting my Orks I though I would let you all know where I was with this army and se iff I can come up with a final build. So what has changed, well I ended up getting some bits and pieces and am looking at taking the list up to 4000 point so that it is the same size as my other lists. So I have; Gargant Gunfortress 14 Gun Wagonz 2 Zappgunwagonz 8 deth kopters 8 Buggies 6 Warbikes 10 Scorchers 2 Dreadnoughts 9 Big Gunz 1 Soopergun 1 Big Warband with Warlord in it 1 Normal warband with 1 extra Boyz + Free Grots 1 stand of Nobz that went with the Big Gunz? 3 Fighta Bommas So I am no willing to spend a bit of cash to bring the list up to the same size as my others but would like to use as much of what I have as possible (don't have to use everything but lets be reasonable) Thanks for looking and thanks in advance for your help with this as I am still as clueless as ever when it comes to the ork list building...
