Hi Guys, I've started another Epic army! ![]() Speed Freeks are my new force - basically I've been playing my regular opponent with my Siegemasters and Nids and I think he's having a really hard time beating them. ![]() So anyway how do you use the Speed Freek army? I'm thinking that you can use the speed of the LVs to get round enemy formations and then put them under crossfire with Gunwagons and Dragstas? The other main tactic I was think of was speeding Skorcha-heavy KOS's near to an enemy formation and then assaulting with a warband- So as to get the 4+ FF from the Skorchas and 4+ CC from the boyz? Is it best to keep the formations small but numerous or big and hard-hitting? Also, is it best to try and max-out on the Dragstas? As far as I can see they are the best units in the list. |

Consider the skorcha... Tim did then I believe bought every one on sale on the earth for a year. His tourny army list may be up on the EpicUK site. |

The last time tiny tim took SF was to the final Call to Arms (GW's SG tournament that has been shut down). View it here |

That looks rather tame actually. Where is his skorcha horde army? |

I don't have that many lists going back into 2007. If I had them they are on the championship site. This was the first SF list I faced and was quite scary enough thanks ![]() |

Yes that is the army which used to terrorize opponents at tournaments. The main aim of the army is to enploy the 'Horns of the Bull' type of attack and sweep the enemy up from the flanks. Whilst it doesn't look much on paper the army consists of 144 units and has at times out numbered the enemy by 3:1. The big problem the army faces is artillery which is why there is such a large air force included. Due to the size of the army it also suffers from first turn orbital bombardments. Chris, you are probably thinking of a standard ork army that I tried out. There used to be a player near me who would field two Big formations of skorchas which would be used to engage or support with a formation of gunwagons, very nasty when it works. |

Cheers for the replies guys! ![]() I can see that it's good to stick the Skorchas in with the Warbands - added support for the Boyz! I think I'm going to have to rethink my original army list as I had two Warbands, but only at the small size; it seems Big or 'Uge would be far better at taking punishment and dishing it out too! ![]() |

A further thing to remember at SF is that trukks are light vehicles and so can suffer from massed fire slowing them down, larger formations can take the hit on leaving troops behind. As the list doesn't have grots to soak up initial hits nobs are important to allow the larger formations a chance to shed all the Blast Markers that will get placed. |

Ah, this is something I hadn't thought of... So I suppose it's best to put the Warbuggys/Bikes/Skorchas at the front of a Warband formation, so that the Trukks can stay in one piece so as to allow the Warband to keep it's movement? Is it a good idea to put the Dragsta near the front too - It's powerfield(s) can act as Grots? |

If you are using Speedstas then they should always lead to take the first hit. Skorchas should only lead if they are engaging and nothing else can reach to FF range otherwise shield them to prevent counter charges taking out your much needed FF 4+ monsters. Don't be afraid to hurl your boys at the enemy and remember that trukks get a CC attack, but no FF attack. |

One thing I've noticed is that Speestas are AVs whereas the majority of units in my formations are LVs - does that mean that they can be singled out by AT? Oh, and another question - can my opponent target the Speedstas with AP shots to take down their powerfields? |
