It depends on how you play your list. If you take a Chaos Reaver or Banelord then you have to tailor the army around it and make it your centre piece. When I finish off my World Eaters I plan on having a Banelord as the main element to the list.

Thanks guys!

I too have seen that only 3 tournament lists on the EpicUK site are featuring a Reaver or Warlord for Black Legion!
Makes me wonder if 3k is not enough to field a Reaver competitively (can see that for the Warlord) or nobody tried it hard enough yet (unlikely) or if they are just not good enough (in a points/usability/total activation equation )?

Sorry if i am missing the obvious answer here - still fairly new to the game and just wonder where all the big robots are! :)

Can't argue with that!

Ginger already touched the point, is any of the cult Reaver variations considered strong enough to carry a 3k list?
Like the DC5 & BP/longer range Nurgle version or the MW & BP/shorter range Thousand Sons Reaver?

Also talking about lists, how could a Chaos Reaver list look like in terms of total activations?
8-9 activations viable?

In the E-UK tournament circles, there is a tendency to go for higher numbers of activations; 9-10 being the minimum, and anything up to 16-17 (for a 'pop-corn' style army). The average is 10-12 for most armies

The BL list already tends to gravitate towards the lower number of activations and the 650 point Reaver style titan is the equivalent of 2-3 activations. Most armies can fight and win with 2-3 activation disadvantage, especially where they have robust formations (large enough to absorb some casualties with minimal effect). However 8 activations can be on the low side under these circumstances, especially where you face a highly mobile opponent with 12-13 activations . . .
Much then depends on your strategy and tactics within the battle. In the 'Tournament' scenario, this places greater emphasis on correct placement of the objective markes and your initial deployment.

When the changes to the epicUK chaos codex come in march BL will have their activation problems eased somewhat and many of the cult titans will be boosted

My (soon to come) Thousand Sons army would love that! >:D
The titans feel a bit odd with their short(est) range and Tzeentch being the power of magic death beams and warp flame balls!

Would understand if you can't tell much atm but will the cult armies get an activation boost as well?
