Depend by the situatiin i think, but the marines are expensive, and if you loose an engage with thr thunder. you loose it too.
8 stand of assault can'approach a titan, or a stronger formation. the risk is hight.

With that many vehicles piled into a corner deployment setup zone, a nice big Strike Cruiser barrage is bound to mess up their day on turn 1.... :)
