First 2 league games played last night. Flo's Necrons ground out a winning draw against Gavin's Eldar (the game ran short on time due a a 30 minute rescue session for a load of spilled necrons).

My Thousand Sons got off to a 3-0 winning start against Rob's Orks. Rob's gambit of throwing battle fortresses at unprepped thousand sons companies didn't pay off. Overall I was pleased with the list. Warphounds are awesome!

Great game, though hope to not repeat the heart wrenching incident.

Any results from November yet? :)

Just realised that i have no game scheduled for this month. Gives me more time to like my wounds after the game against Gavin, haha

3-1 squats vs Knights turn 4
Hard fought game with the knights just not having enough activations to grab/contest objectives in turn 4.
That and some thunderfires beat up a Baron in close combat to get BTS...
Think I've used up all my good karma for about a year...

My spaceship's gonna be awesome against you :{[] :{[]

Good result for Mark - those knights are brutal. Thunderfire close assault for the win!

Was a good game Mark, going cautiously paid off (at times :D),definitely need to fit in some more activations for my knights, but no clue how to get more than 10 into a list, cest la vie.

Also if some one could get me in touch with Rob about our December league game would be great as I am not seeing him on the email.

Caution will not be an issue against Rob and activations will not be a problem against me! I've emailed you Rob's details.

Flo and I played a ridiculous game last night and very enjoyable it was too. His new look necrons took on my thousand sons. I tried to huddle up in the left hand corner but the necrons managed to find a gap to bring in a couple of monolith units and the Ctan. Fortunately they were suitably far from my BTS. Turn one was mostly a back and forth. The Ctain's shooting broke a retinue and a cron assault destroyed my armoured company (though not after an initial assault had bounced off it due to some ludicrous armour saves) in return I knocked out a monolith unit, broke another (never a good idea against necrons) and broke an infantry co.

Turn 2 saw my terminators go for Flo's Blitz and all but one monolith unit come in. The termies went first, destroying a flayed one unit who'd ZOC'd them. There were then a series of assaults in which armour saves armour saves basically ranged from the sublime to the ridiculous if 7 saves being made by a single monolith wasn't enough a single defiler then made a whopping 8 saves and then a further 2 invulnerables. Obvioulsy, the surviving defiler rallied in the end phase. Flo's spaceship then came in and pounded my fully shielded warphounds doing a wound on one and breaking the other. At the end of the turn it was swinging in my favour with the terminators bunkered down on the cron Blitz and a second monolith unit destroyed.

However, Flo won the role to go first, broke my terminators with monolith shooting (as in revenge for the defilers they took 2 hits and 2 casualties), an necron assault then rebroke the retinue the ctan had made a mess of. However, it wasn't quite enough for the necrons who threw slightly too many units at the objectives on my side of the board allowing the warphonds to sneak round and claim Blitz & T&H by breaking the monoliths guarding them. The icing on the cake from my side was the single defiler breaking Flo's BTS with shooting (it had taken a lot of casualties assaulting a retinue) which then phased out giving me a 3-0.

Turn 3 was far tighter than it looked on turn 2. The unit that surprised me most was the ctan, his shooting was excellent and without any real TK in my army I didn't have much of a way of dealing with him. As usual, retinues + daemons allowing me to assault off anything Flo brought within range.

As a note, I've also made a minor tweak to my list subbing a predator for more daemons.

Yeah, it was a real good game, lasting the regular 2,5h.

All ist true what Steve already reported and i only like to emphasise how mental both our save rolls been.
That stupid Defiler really drove me mad, defying all my attempts to wipe it of the board including 2 rounds of combat against a Infantry Phalanx with Monolith support fire... and then adding insult to injury by snatching another VP for Steve end of turn 3. I wanna see the Richardhammer applied to it! Hahaha

My most heroic unit was a Monolith making several saves before being spammed with 7 hits. Only a single super tight fumble brought him down, haha

Yeah, my armour saves were mental. Rhinos, defilers, and armoured company aced everything. Thousand sons and terminators died to pretty much every hit they took. When I won assaults it wasn't due to the tk sons armour it was Flo missing with everything.

Love it. Especially as we're short of hills for the snow board

Nice one! Very impressed you're still finding time for scenery building.
