I was in my FLGS 'Tabletop Tyrant' yesterday and noticed they have enough tables for a smallish event, I enquired with the manager about the possibility of using it as a venue, turns out they have 4 more tables in the back room, so there would easily be space for even a fairly large event I would like to make it a full 3k event in the EUK calendar, just wondering where it would fit in.... PROS 1. It's a mere 12 miles from my house 2. It's marginally closer (~30 miles) to the south meaning the Bristol lot could have an extra half-hour in bed 3. It's within walking distance (~10mins) of the train station which has access to london and the north 4. We might get some leicester locals interested in the scene 5. They stock huge amounts of stuff, some of which may be of interest to epic players (spartan games, battlefront, dropzone) as well as lots of GW and privateer stuff CONS 1. It's in the city centre (ish) so no free parking, although there is a carpark nearby which is £3.60 for the day 2. It's a wee tad cramped in there, but not really any worse than Dreamlike games 3. There may be no requirement for it in the calendar 4. I'd want someone else to ref it (possibly) as I'm shy Thoughts? |

Nearer to me so gets my vote, would help run the admin side of things if needed. Aug is Britcon for me though. |

yeah I figured august would be competing with britcon.... might be a cheaper alternative event for some, might also make the championship interesting and bring players back into the running who can't afford the big events..... not that I'd want to compete with Britcon of course! I would love to attend someday! |

So I heard back from the venue and the 3rd is already booked for a big magic: the gathering release, they could do the sunday (4th of May) what are people's thoughts on that? as far as I'm aware there are still trains running until quite late, and I think the venue would be able to open later..... This is a bank holiday weekend however so how does it impinge on people's plans? Alternatively I'll have to run something later in the year and risk competing with britcon..... |
