Hey folks
Been playing EA for a while now and have been tempted by the odd tournament but so far haven't made the plunge, mainly due to the distances involved. Is Manchester the furthest north I'm likely to see a tournament?
Since I got my car I tend to like driving everywhere rather than flying/busses e.t.c. and I think I can just about swallow the petrol costs involved with a round trip to Manchester. I took a week off work in August for the Edinburgh festival and just noticed it's the same week as Britcon. It's tempting but I don't know if it's a good idea for my first Tournie.
I have flown down to Nottingham for 40k in the past but wouldn't mind a roadtrip at somepoint this year.
Any recommendations for a newbie? Been playing NetEA lists mainly but I don't imagine it's a huge difference for me to change.

Well Britcon has seen one totally new player before. Sadly Manchester and Mansfield are as far North as we go manly for the lack of a venue. Without a local club and a few players it's hard to sell an epic event further North.
Trains to Manchester wouldn't be too bad if booked in advance I guess?

Hi, we have tried Wakefield but that didn't work. If I can get the York players interested we might be able to do a tournament in York though one year. Otherwise it is Britcon, which is a great tournament.

Thanks guys, will have a look into train prices later, maybe see if there's anyone else at my club that would want to go.
If there was ever interest in having a tourney up here, our club venue in Edinburgh could certainly hold a sizeable tournament(20- 30 people) but we only have enough small terrain for 2-3 tables worth. An excuse for some to visit Edinburgh maybe.
Anyway my car is in for a service week after next, that may eat up my budget for a roadtrip, will definitely plan for one next year thiough!

I'd be interested in a Yorkish Tournament.
Or perhaps we could have a Harrogate tournament?
