Hena wrote: Can I ask a few details on this as it sounds actually good army play against. 1. Teleport the terminators to hit the enemy artillery. They seem to be bunched up real nice there to intermingle. 2. Keep the tacticals within the Land Raiders to reduce the amount of hits taken so they might survive the charge across the board. Otherwise nice action there ![]() My guess (as I didn't see the game as I was playing a game myself) is that the Artillery was protected by the ZoC of the Aspect Warriors so no teleporting into the Eldar big guns there. The Aspects would also have been more than 5cm away from the artillery to avoid being intermingled. Keeping the Tacticals in the Land Raiders seems obvious in this circumstance. It was Simon's first time using Marines so I'm not sure how he played it. I know I learnt a lot about using Nids over the tourney. I'd never played them before. I think the EpicUK Heirophant could do with 4+ Reinforced Armour (instead of 5+) but I really enjoyed using them. They caused a lot of fear to begin with but players found ways to reduce the horde's strength. I'll be more competetive next time! |

Sounds fun! ![]() Are Australians normally ok playing against Epic-UK lists then? I assumed I was going to have to migrate those lists where I prefer the Epic-UK version to the Net-EA versions for use down under. |

I wanted to use Nids and I like the simlicity of the EpicUK list. I found it great fun to play (just the ruddy Heirophant seemed to die too easily ![]() One of the benefits of running the tourney, I get to call the shots! ![]() We also have a lot of guard players that wanted to use their tanks (there was one that had to pull out the day before) and the Ulani list works at these points levels. We'll stick with the Minervans at larger point games. In general, we will be sticking with NetEA list for almost all our games (*Edit - except the EpicUK Nid list which I think we'll stick with... no one here likes spawning). |

It was Simon's first time using Marines so I'm not sure how he played it. Since I was the guy with the fantastically painted Eldar, I'll answer those questions. I had set up the artillery bunched up, but surrounded by the aspect formation which included Swooping Hawks. Onyx is correct that I kept them more than 5cm from the war engines, but the 10cm scout ZoC from the SH meant that the Terminators couldn't teleport in. Or so I thought. Simon was able to plop down four Terminators in a nice little area not covered by the ZoC, but took BM on the way in. He won the strategy roll, but rolled a 1 for the iniative test, so he unloaded with his Terminaotrs. Then, since they were nicely packed in, I dropped a few disrupt blasts to break them and then engaged with the Aspects, whose lance weapons messed up the terminators. Simon did exactly what I would have done, it was just that '1' that screwed it all up for him. Simon also had the tacticals touching the LR to get the -1 to hit with the barrage, which all of my opponents did on the day. Personally I would have done as Hena suggested, by leaving them inside I should only be getting 2 models under the template and statistically only scoring 1 hit. |
