Dear All,

announcing Cambridge Skirmish, an epic tournament on a slightly smaller scale.
We all enjoy a big game every now and then... but lets not forget the small ones.

9.30am Saturday 10th September
Trumpington Village Hall,
Trumpington,
Cambridge, UK
(coming by car is easy, just off the M11 J11 or if by train Citi7 bus gets you to Trumpington from Cambridge station)

£10 per ticket (lunch not included)

Three 2000pt games on 4'x4' tables.
(remember all the lists are supposed to be balanced for 2k-5k games)

EpicUK approved army lists and Tyranids

Standard Epic GT rules (3 objectives each, etc.).

I'll be attending Britcon, so you can pay me then, or on the day.


Army list submission deadline Friday 26th August 2nd September (anyone who fails to submit an army list must buy everyone a drink)

I'm just getting back into Epic after a long hiatus, and am managing to play a game every few weeks or so against a friend who played Space Marine back in the day. I'd love to play a few more games and I live in Cambridgeshire... I'm a bit nervous about tournaments though, I've never been to one and don't want to slow anyone down with my lack of practice! How are the numbers looking?

In any case, do you have a group/club you play regularly in?

Hi there Kyrt,

I haven't started selling tickets yet, will get on that soon...

Tournaments are a lot of fun, and we're a friendly bunch - given the smaller than usual armies, games won't be as time pressured, so I definitely encourage you to pop along.

As far as clubs in Cambridge, I actually don't play anywhere at the moment - been meaning to check out the wargames club, but I never seem to be free. If you're interested in meeting up for a few games PM me.

What do you mean by this?
Note: the Tyranid List is due for release two weeks after the event, so we have added it too the allowed list.

So how do you build your list if you don't know what the list is? Oh, and let me register my displeasure w/ rule 8.3 since it's 100% ambiguous and subjective and every tournament I've been to w/ a rule like this has caused some sort of dispute and animosity between players due to lack of real criteria:
Lists may be judged on many criteria, for example, most in keeping with the theme of the race, using an unusual selection of units, most innovative
list (something we've not seen before).

Oh btw I quite like the look of that 8.3 rule - let me put it this way I don't see dual Warhound, dual thunderhawk armies getting any bonus points

I can understand how in tournaments this could cause some issues - but honestly I think the epic crowd are men enough to handle it.

innovative to the uk tournament scene. But anyone who's paid any attention to any lists knows there's stuff that's de rigueur r and stuff that's unusual (every list seems to suffer that despite the best attempts of designers)

It's only 5 pts I guess but I'm not keen on entirely ambiguous criteria in tournament scoring. My idea of a themed list might be different from yours and things fall apart when that happens.

If there'd been this rule at the last tournament I went to - this would easily be my choice for the 'coolest' army

It seems to fly in the face of all accepted wisdom for ork army makeup - yet the guy did well and got a good placing. T
