Hello, It's been a long time in the making but EPIC UK is finally here! So what is EPIC UK? EPIC UK is an independent organisation totally committed to the development of EPIC Armageddon tournaments within the UK. For more information of what we do please visit our website: www.epic-uk.co.uk So what can EPIC UK offer a tournament player like me? EPIC UK is able to: A news section - This will provide up to date news of whats going on in the UK EPIC tournament world. Keep you informed of all EPIC events throughout the UK - We have a calendar where you will be able to find all the information you need about up and comming EPIC Events. You will be able to download all the EPIC rules - From links to the EPIC Armageddon rulebook to the EPIC UK standard '3 game' and '5 game' tournament packs, you will be able to download these whenever you like! Army Lists - Probably the most exciting bit for all you lot. On this part of the website you will be able to find the current Games Workshop EPIC army lists (even the Chaos ones). However EPIC UK will also be uploading new army lists starting with the Space Marines. 5 new Space Marine army lists are being created (due to be released around the end of March, keep a look out on the 'news' part of the website) including: Generic Space Marine Army List Dark Angels Army List Blood Angels Army List Black Templars Army List White Scars Army Lists After these the Orks and so on until finally new races like the Tau and Deamon Hunters are included. 8 tournaments have already signed up to the use of these army lists! EPIC UK Championship - An experimental EPIC Championship was run last year and has become very sucessful. This year we have impoved the scoring system and added a Championship Shield. You will be able to keep track on who's currently winning and who's currently loosing within the battle for the EPIC UK Championship Shield. The Dice of Dave - Regular Tournament players will know the legendary dice of Dave Thomas, they always roll a 6 when needed. Many tests have been carried out and the only conclusion is that Mr Thomas is just gifted! Dave has kindly agreed to transfer a little of this magic into a set of dice that shall be known henceforth as The Dice of Dave! Mr Thomas carries no responsibility for users of The Dice of Dave! rolling ones when sixes are required! The Dice of Dave! will be presented to the player finishing last at the first epic tournament of the year and should be used by this player at the next Epic event, were the The Dice of Dave will pass to that events last placed player. Thus ensuring that Dave's power is used to help the most deserving player each tournament. And much much more plus we are allways updating the website to make it better and better. If you see anything that you think should be added to the website please 'contact us' and we will look into it. Any questions please feel free to contact me. Thank you EPIC UK |

This all sounds excellent, and congratulations on getting this off the ground. One question, how does this fit in with the regular and updated army lists. For example, using Tau as I know it best, when you get around to a Tournament Tau list, what happens if I turn up with the latest version of the Tau list from here? Which version will be applicable in tournaments under the Epic-UK banner? So, at the next tournament does that mean that only those five Marine lists will be able to be used? Thanks. |

The Epic-UK site has a page that lists all the armies currently approved for use at Epic-UK run tournaments. Right now they are the 10 core GW approved lists. As the committee approves more lists these will be added to this page, and links to the required documents provided. As ever it is up to each tournament organiser to decide what lists will be acceptable. Hope that answers your question CS. |

Yes, and no. The line... 5 new Space Marine army lists are being created (due to be released around the end of March, keep a look out on the 'news' part of the website) ... implies that there will be a new Marine list which will replace the current Marine list. Will this be the 'current Marine list with community approved updates' (for example, the list in the Marine board here) or will this be a new Marine list worked on by the Epic-UK tournament group? Thanks. |

Cybershadow, No the new lists are totaly produced by EPIC UK. The community updates have been used as a 'guide' for some changes however not all. So the 'current Marine list with community approved updates' is not allowed at EPIC UK events. If you enter a EPIC UK tournament you will need to use the army lists off our website. Thank you |

Thanks, but that is exactly what I was afraid of. I have to ask why the tournaments dont like the main force list development, or at least work with us? It seems to me that this further fragments and confuses players of the various forces ("do I play the last version before SG died, the French version, the version currently being worked on or the tournament approved list?") and throws doubt on the list development that has already been going on for years ("what is wrong with the community developed lists that they cant be used in tournaments?"). I have always said that any kind of list development must be focussed on tournaments, since we cannot legislate what people use at home and there is no point trying to, and this appears to push that development work aside ("if the community developed lists cant be used in tournaments, what are they good for?"). (If this comes across stronger than it is meant, I apologise. I am a little tired and putting together an entire sentence in English is proving difficult this morning! ![]() |

I can only reply with my point of view, but the statement 'for years' probably says most to me. Lots of ideas have been mooted, discussed, argued, forgotten, re-introduced and the cycle begins again. Without a smaller group of final approvers the process drags on. I signed up for this as I believe this is the fastest way to get updated lists out to the UK tournament players, because as you say playing at home I can do what I like. |

I think it's important to remember though that they are not replacing all the development that is on going on, they are simply uk tounament ready "right now", not work in progress or experimental. But that is exactly what they are doing. The Marine list will replace the SG official list (if I am correct) and the set of Marine updates that have been accepted here. The Marines as an example are stable, balanced and ready for tournament-type play, and yet they are the first force which will be rewritten by the tournament group who will allow (I presume) only their version of the Marine list into tournaments. If I want to play Marines now, which list do I use, the one that I can use at tournaments, or the one that has had more playtesting from a wider group over a longer time period? I can only reply with my point of view, but the statement 'for years' probably says most to me. Lots of ideas have been mooted, discussed, argued, forgotten, re-introduced and the cycle begins again. Without a smaller group of final approvers the process drags on. I signed up for this as I believe this is the fastest way to get updated lists out to the UK tournament players, because as you say playing at home I can do what I like. Which is exactly what the NetERC is there for. I am not trashing the idea of a smaller group to guide and co-ordinate development, since that is exactly what we proposed and put into action a few months ago. I think that this is a great idea, I just dont see why the tournament developers and the NetERC are doing basically the exact same job with no communication between the two - particularly when the tournament group are essentially saying to players that their development is now exclusively key. I agree with Hena 100% in this. I feel that this is yet another fracturing of the game and community. I fully support this effort, but do feel that more co-ordination and communication is needed. |

Cybershadow, All due respect intented but most of the NETERC do not play in UK tournaments. The lists EPIC UK will be designing are designed by UK EPIC tournament players who, between them, have played hundreds of tournament games against different players all over the UK, with different armies. I feel that these people have more experience than the NETERC for UK tournament lists. Also EPIC UK does not fragment; in fact it pulls things together. A new player can log onto the website and get their army list, enter the tournament and download the rulespack. www.epic-uk.co.uk is a one stop shop and makes entering UK tournament so much easier. I mean Hena has provided a link to a form that I didn't even know existed, how is a new player wishing to enter the EPIC UK tournament scene supposed to know about NETERC? As far as I'm concerned there is no marketing for the NETERC. Thank you |
