With a suitable fanfare we proudly announce the dates for the next WPS Club Challenge...

16-17th May 2009

Please note that this isn't the traditional bank holiday weekend you may be used to.  This is because it's running at an all new venue - the Britannia Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool, and a certain local football team playing at home on the Bank Holiday weekend (Go Reds!!).  It's a gorgeous venue that those of you who have attended the Mersey Meltdown can attest to.  Cheap beer too.

We will be running Epic as with previous years.

Mroe details and entry forms will be available shortly - keep checking the WPS site.

Liverpool.

That's about a 700-800 mile round trip for me.

I love the CC, but this may be just a bit too much.......

Yes but the venue is sooo worth it!

I've been to the meltdown both times it's been on; it's brillant. The hotel is situated right in the city center.

Oh and best of all you can see the train station from the gaming hall. I think I'll be travelling by train to this event!

Will get my entry in soon!

Hello chaps,

An intriguing idea this, what? I must say it has peeked my curiosity, only... what does one have to do to get there and what does one do when one eventually arrives?

I've never been to any gathering of like minded fellows before so I'm totally at a loss. Of course money is a deciding factor so if any of you fine chaps could manage to indicate the general costs involved that would be smashing. (Hotel, venue, eats that sort of stuff)

The last CC was £30 - which included 5 games, lunch both days, evening meal on Saturday, and coffee both mornings.

3000 point lists from 'official' lists (orks,SM,IG,Speed Freeks,White Scars,Feral Orks, Black Legion,Eldar and Lost&Damned) which have to be painted 3 colours and based to avoid losing points.

For Epic at the CC (run by braveheart of this forum) it cost £35 to enter last year. For that you got 5 games across 2 days, lunch both days and dinner on the saturday. Now that was all at warhammer world so I don't know the details for Liverpool yet.

Its normally a good laugh, as are all Epic tournaments.

While the train sounds fine, I usually travel up with Conrad, who being the tournament organiser, has a LOT of stuff to bring with him. No way we could get it on the train.  *sigh*

Thanks lads,

It all sounds reasonable so far. I'll have to see how things go with the work though and I'll need to look out the train times from Scotland too but I'm sure they are both do-able.  :)

So no Necron or SoB lists then, damn. :sigh: So much for the element of surprise which means I'll have to rely on tactics, oh dear!... Still, I have plenty of other stuff to chose from. Five games, that sounds like a lot of gaming.

If you can only make one tournament next year I suggest looking at Britcon. Now this is over 3 days (first game is Friday evening) and takes place at Manchester University.

On campus B&B, 6 games at 4000 points, cheapish beer make this a great weekend. Now it does cost around £100 for entry and B&B accommodation in student rooms but its worth it.

BHGS for more details but not next years just yet!

£100 is a bit hard to come by even if you do get a lot for it. But, if I get the bug for EA Tournament games that may be something to save towards instead of squandering it on models... I can't believe I just said that.

This is because it's running at an all new venue - the Britannia Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool

So I take it the hotel is the best option for accommodation or is there a cheaper alternative that you use like a Travel Lodge, B+B etc?

Well if by some miricle I'm back int he country that one event I would be missing. Impossible to get from abbey wood station in London to there on saturday morning in time to start. Unless I wanted to pay an extra £30-£40 for a nights accomodation. Better off going to BritCon.

The CC is my favourate event of the year as we get to mingle with the players from other systems, some of them used to play epic and I always have a go at trying to get them back into the game.

You don't have to be a member of a club or be part of a team as other teams are always looking for additional players.

And of course, your fellow epic players will look after you. As Necrons are a stable list we can always discuss their inclusion in the accepted tournament lists, Braveheart runs our side and is one of us, so if enough people are happy to face it then there should be no problems. Of course the list will not be a surprise to some of us as we are aready building our forces.
