Following on from Alansa's post, which type of tournament points system do you prefer? GW-style that places players based on Win/Loss record with VPs only used to differentiate players with the same record? Or WPS-style whereby VPs take on increased importance and a player with a worse Win/Loss record can finish above a player with a superior Win/Loss record? |

Rather than just caring about winning the biggest (And thus the whole "a player with a worse Win/Loss record can finish above a player with a superior Win/Loss record" thing), as players who know me know I'm not the most competative of gamers, I'd rather play someone of a similar skill level/approach to the game throughout the entire tournament, so I'd prefer the WPS system. In my experience the guys who are the most competative tend to cluster around the top few tables pretty soon under the WPS system, and those high-tention games aren't really my bag of chips... |

The WPS system gives someone losing an opportunity to try and claw back some points. This can also mean that a loss or draw does not mean that you are automatically out of a chance of winning the tournament. |

I think that the GW style system is good for 200 players. You need to ensure differentiation there. But for smaller numbers a closer tourny is far more viable. |

Killing for VPs, VP denial, taking objectives and denying objectives are all rewarded in the WPS system making a more absorbing game with some depth. but discourages winning a game by sacrificing objective(s) which is also a game with much depth? |
