The WPS have already got the Club Challenge booked for the 24th and 25th May 2008. You can enter by following this link: http://www.players-society.com/ - up and coming events - WPS club Challenge.

The idea is that it is a two day tournament, with food, at Warhammer World Nottingham, with many different game systems including EPIC. Clubs from the UK fight for supreme dominance over all game systems to be the best club in the UK (There can be only one!). I would just like to mention that the last two years the Dragon Slayers, yes the Dragon Slayers ... oh did I mention the Dragon Slayers have won the Club Challenge! :)

If your not in a club don't worry; for you it will just be a fantastic two day tournament!

Please make note - GW has told the WPS that numbers have got to be reduced; so given that you will be fighting for places with every other game system taking part, I recommend you send your entries off ASAP! Please see the note below:

Just to let you all know, we have been informed recently (last week) by GW/WHW that GW need to:-

"maintain some facilities for the General public to view the Exhibitions, take part in Hobby Bar activities and make use of some gaming tables for pick up games. " in WHW world.

As such a review of the capacity that can be offered at events held at WHW which allows GW to meet the statement above has taken place. The direct effect that this has on the WPS Club Challenge in 2008, is that there will only be 76 tables within the main gaming hall available to us the WPS, allowing 152 players to play in WHW.

Obviously this is a substantial reduction in the normal numbers when compared to the numbers from previous years. As such we have negotiated with GW that we have access to The Moot which will be used exclusively for Blood Bowl - allowing us an additional 32 players but only playing Blood Bowl.

In summary the total number of players allowed in to this years Club Challenge will be 152 players plus an additional 32 Blood Bowl players thus allowing us to hopefully maintain the sort of numbers that we are used to at this event.

This is obviously some thing that is completely out of our control, much like the decision by GW last year, that restricted us to only playing GW game systems at WHW. We can only apologise for the reduction in the number of players that we can have at this event and our advice to you would be to get your entries in as soon as you can.

Yes only 28 places left at the club challenge (remember you are fighting for places with WFB, 40K, WAB and other popular systems). If you want to attend this excellent tournament get your entries in now!

I entered a month ago.  I hope Epic runs, but if you lots are indicative, I guess probably not enough people entered in time.  *sigh*  Why is it so hard to enter early?  The event has been advertised for months!

I don't like two day tournaments.

9 people entered with 13 places left so I reckon it should.

And as to why leave it late, finance :)

Over the years people have been booking earlier and earlier, must be a good event or something?

Plus places have been further limited by GW this year.

The list is up on the warhammer forum as below. The event is sold out but WHW won't let all the tables go in the main hall anymore so less spaces than other years.

1) Andy Garrard - 1st Co Vets
2) Joe Jephson - Dice Not Included
3) Allan Cameron - Bristol Vanguard
4) Matthew Otter - Dragon Slayers
5) Nathan Hoole - Dragon Slayers
6) Andrew Harris - Tanelorn
7) Chris Steel - TNG
8) Steve Gullick - 1st Co Vets
9) David Bartley - Mercenary
10) Tim Hunt - Mercenary
11) Damian Bradley - Leeds Night Owls
12) Bill Ely - 1st Co Vets

So we are smaller than BB but bigger than WAB!

Yes, used it at Open War 9, yesterday and there were no major problems.
