Q: Do hits stopped by Shields still cause an additional BM if the weapon had the Disrupt ability? Similarly do hits on Grot units by Disrupt weapons cause an additional BM? A: Shields and Grots negate the BM caused by an attack, but are lost themselves in the process. This means that they do negate the BM inflicted by Disrupt weapons.

The same would hold true for any unit, such as Chaos daemons, that do not generate a Blast Marker when they are destroyed.

In effect a Blast Marker is placed either when the hit is scored or the damage inflicted, but then the BM is removed when the shield goes down or the Grot is killed. Note that in both cases there is no save allowed against the hit, so any hit will automatically result in the shield or Grot being lost.

from the FAQ
Quote:
2.2.2 Disrupt
Does a disrupt hit inflict a Blast marker on an expendable unit?
No.
Does a disrupt hit inflict a Blast marker when it takes down a void shield or power field?
No.

Again, that is from the NetEA FAQ, not the Epic-UK one.

EDIT - this is the FAQ that is officially used for Epic-UK events: http://epic-uk.co.uk/rules/Epic_FAQ.pdf

Reedar - could you confirm which FAQ will take precedence tomorrow? I'm happy to play it either way, I just want to know ahead of time and not in the middle of a game...

EDIT2 - or I'll just have to ask the Nid players during the 5m warmup...

Actually IIRC that part was sourced from the 2009 GW pdf one but you know lets be pedantic FFS, especially when not specifying in your post.

It's not in the FAQ I just linked to.

Evening all,

With regards to FAQs in general, we'll be using the one found on the EUK site: http://epic-uk.co.uk/rules/Epic_FAQ.pdf

With regards to the Disrupt/Grot question, this is from the FAQ, and seems pretty clear to me:
Quote:
Q: Do hits stopped by Shields still cause an additional BM if the weapon had the Disrupt ability? Similarly do
hits on Grot units by Disrupt weapons cause an additional BM?
A: Shields and Grots negate the BM caused by an attack, but are lost themselves in the process. This means that they do negate the BM inflicted by Disrupt weapons.
The same would hold true for any unit, such as Chaos daemons, that do not generate a Blast Marker when they are destroyed.
In effect a Blast Marker is placed either when the hit is scored or the damage inflicted, but then the BM is removed when the shield goes down or the Grot is killed.
Note that in both cases there is no save allowed against the hit, so any hit will automatically result in the shield or Grot being lost

Looking forward to seeing you in the morning!

Cheers
Reedar

Interesting - I wonder if it changed at some point then. The shields have always stopped extra BM's from disrupt as far as i can recall, but i've definitely seen nid games played in the past where the termies could be disrupted (they could have been playing it wrong mind you!). Good to know that's what the current ruling is though.

The bit that (after reading this Rich) surprised me was around the 'there is no save allowed' part. DT has commented on this offline too.
I can only assume that when this was written cover saves weren't being considered, as I've never heard of Disrupt weaponry not allowing a unit a save...

Admittedly I've not had to face off against Disrupt weapons that often...

Hi guys,

Sadly Blip has had to drop out. In order to keep numbers even, and that so no one has to take a 'bye' in any of the rounds, I will stand down... please see revised draw below:

Alansa v IJWartrader
Jon v MarkW
Nat v Calthburn
Duncan v Steve D
RichardL v GlynG
SteveKCole v tc63

Cheers
Reedar

Yep, i'd assume as such as well, given that weapons in some cases can have both Disrupt and Ignore Cover, which would be pretty reduntant if Disrupt had both innately!

One thing that's good with having people actually wanting to know where a given rule is written is that it helps in cases like this where i actually had the rule wrong! It can be a bit confusing when one special rule interracts with another in a way you think seems a bit odd mind you...

You make it sound almost friendly. As if it weren't attached to a load of horrible fearless things!

Big thank you to everyone who took part today.
Sorry that Blip and Alansa weren't able to make it - hopefully see you guys at an event soon.

Thank you again to everyone for tolerating my two kids - appreciate that wasn't ideal. In particular the SteveD and Calthburns who put up with my partial attention and constant disruptions during our games!

Congrats to RichardL for romping home to the win, dropping just 2pts from his three games he deserved all the plaudits today.

Hopefully see some of you at FSA and Counterattack.

Cheers
Reedar
