Thanks everyone for being so accomadating, both with lending me the things I needed to play and also going easy on a newbie! I learned plenty of things not to do when battling marines and promise to come to the next event with my own army, and maybe even my own dice and tape measure!

Anytime, it was good to have you along tc63! No problem on the loan of stuff, you're welcome to again if your stuff isn't ready when the next tourney comes around.
I'm sure that any of the others would be willing to loan you an army too if you fancied trying something other than Orks!

Echoing everyone else, thanks to Steve and Meph for organising this; to Reedar, E&C and Jon for three "interesting" games; and commiserations to Enri for making the courageous and correct decision to stay at home.

In my first game against Reedar we were both cautious. I started "castled up" against the threat of a Landa full of Orks that finally landed elsewhere (thankfully). Turn #2 saw both of us manoeuvring carefully whilst trying to avoid the opposing titans. Unfortunately through mutual caution we were beaten by the clock at the start of turn #3, so had to settle for an honourable draw. Non-the-less, a most enjoyable start that the day. 0-0

My second game against E&C was quite the reverse of the first, an all out slug-fest. I castled up against the threat of E&C flying in with three Landing craft full of marines. After a few stalling activations, the Landing craft appeared in the skies. In a major reversal of my usual luck, I managed to score a single hit on the first, which converted into a critical incinerating his BTS. Undaunted by the fate of their comrades the second Landing craft flew into the Eldar flak and disembarked its contents, was then shot and also exploded taking two Land Raiders with it!! Having lost around 1/3 of his army, E&C most sportingly then carried on playing aggressively and tried to take out my Phantom with the remaining Land-raiders followed by a charge by Assault Marines that ultimately failed. With nothing left the marines could not stop the Eldar claiming all objectives. 5-0 to me

This catapulted me into an uncharacteristic 2nd place and the third game against Jon and his "Flying Orks of Deff".
I castled once more and slowly crept forward under a crumbling AA umbrella, while Jon's Orks moved around the edges of the table avoiding my artillery (which saved a couple of hits). In turn #2 a Blitz brigade strayed slightly too close and was destroyed by guardians, which then retreated back to the umbrella. My night spinners doubled forwards and took out a large number of Orks from the main Warband before being assaulted to death. In turn #3, while I had moved into position to assault and almost destroy the Ork BTS and consolidate onto the Blitz, I had left my own Blitz weakly screened. Jon calmly swatted my defenders aside to claim my Blitz while contesting his own Blitz with his Landa for a well earned and thought out win. 0-2 to Jon.
