That's a shame, I wonder why not...

A year ago I wouldn.t have supported a venture like this but in the last year we are no closer to having any more tournament ready lists than we were a year ago. Debates go roun and round with the same discussions coming up again and again - a lot of people don't even post anymore as nothing ever moves forward.

Epic UK has come about because that is what most UK tournament goers want - new lists to use

How is this any different to what the french have done and I haven't seen any criticism of what they have done.

If you don't go to Epic tournaments in the UK this has no effect on you. We're effectively saying this is what we'll use in our groups that has no more effect on non-uk tournament goers than the London group boycotting BL&Tau has on the Australian groups.

Then you haven't been paying attention... *laugh*

One of the reasons the "French" versions of armies hasn't been looked at is that many don't read French!  Now that some willing translators have come forward, those lists are being examined and mined for good ideas/changes.

The NetERC released their "Recommended Changes" document a while ago and endorsed the Dark Eldar as "tournament ready".

The alt-Eldar lists have all been fairly stable for quite some time, the newest updates mainly just getting them in line with the NetERC changes, so there should be no reason not to allow their use.

With the release of Raiders, the Necron army has become a fair and balanced force to contend with.

That leaves Tau and Tyranids from the "official" armies... and they've been "near completion" many times until someone shows up with horrifying playtest results, warranting a change!  So, they've had to evolve... but, other than "extreme" armies, both have been quite playable.

What is it that the EpicUK community finds wrong with any of these lists?  If someone could share those concerns/complaints, I'm sure any of the NetEA Champions would be willing to listen.

My point is if you havnt been to any epic tournaments yet;  threatening not to come to any in the future is pretty hollow (well your not going to be missed are you!).

It's obviously not about being "missed", and it's not about "threatening", it's about not wanting to support a further fracture of the Epic community.

And with regards to the French lists, they are developed in an open manner, and the language barrier poses major problems for us to integrate with them. Note that they have followed the NetERC model, with their own F-ERC rather than closed lists sent down from on high.

Currently most games in the UK are run under the NetERC banner, and I'd like it to stay that way, whatever the tournament goers decide to do.

Congratulations on getting this up and running.

From what I've seen of the ongoing development of new marine lists there shouldn't be much to worry about from other gamers. 99.9 % of alterations are the same as the NetERC recommended ones.

The gamers who don't like the idea of Epic-UK development of lists etc. just think of it as a group who are using there own house rules ,it's just a big house.I'd say wait and see what the lists are before grumbling too much about things.

Lists like those from "Raiders" and ongoing variant lists will be considered for tournaments when other races are looked at later in the year if my info is correct.

All in all you could say Epic-UK are "Doing What Works For Us"

Boo. Well there are other non EUK tournaments.

Sorry Matt but there arn't any other events:

Open War - Signed up to EPIC UK tournament rules and armies
Britcon - Signed up to EPIC UK tournament rules and armies
WPS - Signed up to EPIC UK tournament rules and armies
London - Signed up to EPIC UK tournament rules and armies
EPIC UK - Signed up to EPIC UK tournament rules and armies

So all EPIC tournaments are using EPIC UK rules.

@Zombocom

EPIC UK has to answer the wishes of it's current customers. They want new balanced lists for tournament events. I'm sorry but from what many tournament players have seen (and reported back to me) from NETERC the lists produced arn't that ... and how can they, none of the NETERC people play in any EPIC tournaments within the UK.

The lists are 'closed'; however we have EPIC UK 'champions' within the UK playtesting the lists in the EPIC community. So the EPIC community gets to feedback but it's in a controlled way where 'whoever shouts loudest' doesn't always win. This is what I, and others, have witnessed on forums ... the people who post the most get their way.

Also there are days like 'FSA - gaming day' which you are welcome to attend to view the army list.

Thank you

Matt

The lists have been produced with 5 different groups of epic tournament players and will be available at the sunday of FSA to the tournament crowd - who they are relevant to

So basically you have the monopoly, so you choose what goes. I get that, I opt out.

Several of the netERC army champions are regular UK tournament attendees. TRC for example.

What difference does it make whether they play in UK based tournaments or not? If the game is the same, the environment makes no difference. Why are games played ouytside of the UK (or in the UK but not at tournaments) irrelevant for determining balance? I'm sure you don't intend to sound xenophobic, but that's how it comes across.

You think lists that are vastly playtested and considered balanced internationally aren't balanced for UK tournaments. Do you genuinely think closed lists that are far less playtested are more likely to be balanced?

This strikes me as a very elitist attitude; so EpicUK's goal is to satisfy their current tournament players but not offer support and growth to the Epic hobby?

I've been slowly working on my local 40K group, to get them to attend Epic tournaments instead. They were against the idea, as list development was limited - until I pointed them to Epic:Raiders. That got them interested again, and we were planning to make Epic our tournament set this year. But after hearing this, frankly it's unlikely they'll want to do it. After all, we like to start our armies in January, and play them in the months leading up to the tournaments. And you aren't even supporting 3 of the lists we'd be using.

Reaver - even without Epic UK the raiders lists wouldn't have been accepted at tournaments.
