Pending on who's in the teams i doubt that will be too much of a problem, and rather than a strictly north/south divide one idea would just be to see what everyone's preferred army is on the UK teams and then see if two teams could be organised without any duplicates.

Hope it's OK to post... for the benefit of Richard, if I have translated usernames correctly the provisional allocation is:

Team UK (top 4 on WLD%)
dptdexys
Tiny-Tim
Steve54
Rug

Team South
Apocolocyntosis
Kyrt
Monkeyboy
Blip

Team North
kev101
Mark (P?)
kyussinchains
MikeT

We (south) should be able to field a distribution of armies, perhaps not all of our "best" armies but let's face it, we know who's going to win anyway ;)

Are there going to be translators hired for the event? I know the Germans and Swedes etc will speak perfect English, but how will we understand the uneducated ramblings of the Yorkshire folk? ;)

That team north won't have any problems fielding a spread of armies - Mike alone could probably supply 4 different ones for his team to use ;)

Team South is organised and preparing. We've even hired a coach who has his work cut out! ;D

Booked hotel for Fri and Sat nights (I assume I can wander around on the Friday - please tell me of not!) and paid entry fee.

The expo website says it's open all day for open gaming, and the trade halls from 2pm.

Have the times for the games been worked out yet? It seems like we have the option of playing later on the saturday since everyone is staying overnight, which could free up some time during the day for lunch (which most people didn't have chance to eat at this year's expo) and hopefully the trade halls? Is that true, or do we have to finish by a set time?

I'd like to have a quick look around the trade stands but I'm undecided on whether I want to stay the extra night.

Ha, with only 12 UK guys, that would be one of the smaller events. There are a lot more regular tournament players around, and given the chance I am sure there could be upwards of 20+ UK guys on top of the guests. Given these numbers it might even be sufficient to attract people from other continents and make it a truly world class event . . .

Sadly, it seems that space is restricted this yesr so this will just have to remain a pipe dream for another time. :(

Hey if it worked like this in football (entering with 4+ teams), then maybe England would win another World Cup :P

I think that the key point is that these events will help grow Epic 40k and bring players from the UK and Europe together - and giving many on this forum to meet and play a few games whereas otherwise they would never have a realistic opportunity to do so.

Even amongst the UK players there are a few people that are rarely seen at Epic UK events, so it is certainly having a positive impact.

There were 3 countries with full teams at the last event. If there are 4 countries with full teams this time it will show that the event is growing and building long-term momentum.

Maybe the UK will be like Real Madrid or the Montreal Canadiens and get a few wins on the board before everyone else ups their game, but I suspect it won't take long for other countries to get very competitive.

Would UK be able to split into Scotland, England, Wales and so on in the future? That would be more in line with how a lot of international events are run, but I don't know if there are enough UK players outside of England.

and Austria wouldn't qualify ;D
Regarding game times they will run later than normal with bigger gaps to let people wander.
3 UK teams, I could understand that it would be an issue if it prevented there being enough space for national teams but at the moment we have 5 team slots left
Germany - pretty much confirmed
Sweden - pretty much confirmed
Austria - probable?
Norway - maybe
Hungary - maybe
Finland - probably no
France - I've posted on their forum, plenty of views no replies
No other interest
