I do mean August! August the 10th, 11th and 12th!

When would you run another event in August Steve? I'm keen to hear from people who are attending britcon and how they feel about this events timing also.

Interested, my IG are brown based, and I was planning a Chaos Marine army next, but probably not this year, possibly a revision to my painting timetable is required.

Also, good luck getting this running, its the kind of event I would like to see more of, I even tried running one, but there was little interest. I greatly hope that you can get it off the ground and make campaign days like this workable long term.

Hi again Horatio (Nat)! Good to have you here :-)

What were the problems you found with attempting to run such an event?
YRs,
Ryan

The key problem was getting people to commit to attend, I had 10+ people 'interested' but only 3 bought a ticket.

I have now come to realise the importance of having a known person from the games circuit be the frontman for the event as it instills confidence in the prospective players that the event will be well run. I cant say too much, but as an example, I work for a wargaming store with 20 tables (ie tourney capacity 40), if we run a 40k tourney we get 12-15, if (as now happens) we have them run at our venue but by a known and popular tournament regular who attends most tournaments within 300miles, they sell out within days and have a long reserve list. The same with FoW, the organisers name means far more than anything else in the rulespack, its all about confidence in the organiser.

The downside is it is very hard for a new organiser to break into the events scene and fill tourneys/campaigns. That said, you do have that personal presence in the epic event calendar, you have a proven track record with the WW and as such I would expect this campaign to fill up pretty fast. I really hope that this takes off as it would be wonderful to have more non-tourny events happening (nothing against tourneys, but variety is good). If this goes well I would like to work with you on one for THelix next year and really push the campaign events side of epic.

If it's late August then that would give me 4 months worth of TOEG painting- so hopefully would have at least 2,000 points of Blood Angels. At that point I would only need one Warlord and a flight of T-bolts to hit the usual 3,000 points army size. So Blood Angels could be acheiveable.

Oh look...I seem to have some of them lying around already painted...!

Actually realised that I was nt thinking straight. Although I have only just started painting my TOEG Titans, I also have my camo painted Titans. One Warlord Titan, 4 Reavers and 4 Warhounds which should match basing of my IG or my Blood Angels.

So if I get another Blood Angels painted in TOEG I can field them, if not either IG or AMTL. Either way stick me down for Imperials.

Cheers

James

Most likely the imperial side buddy. Hoping to have 3k of Marines painted by then.

Failing that I might try and convince someone *cough*Jon*cough* to loan me their IG force, as I'm currently trying to convince this unnamed *cough*Jon*cough* individual to paint up his Chaos in time for this....

Because of the need for funds I'm going to open up tickets in the next couple of weeks, it'll be on a first come first served basis though so I'd reccomend that people save up a few pennies to begin with: expect a £20 ticket price though this may go up once I've done my cost analysis: Things will be kept nice and open with this event as money will be going through my paypal account: receipts and spending will all be freely available for all to see on the day :-).

I am currently looking at one of two possible dates:
Britcon Weekend: 10th/11th/12th of August
Post B/con Wknd: 17th/18/19th of August

I haven't spoken to anyone who plans on attending both events yet but I also don't want to tread on the event organisers toes so it's more than likely to be the second option. Many people I've spoken too have fielded a dislike for the Bank Holiday weekend as they have other plans.

Please bear in mind when booking for this event that we need commitment to be there on those dates: possibly late into the sunday if need be: there'd be nothing worse than having to pack up halfway through the grand finale!

I'm also going to implement a 'no refunds' policy if anyone has to cancel within 4 weeks of the event, it may sound harsh but the need for even player numbers is very important this time round.

Wannabe Imperials:
Stu's Idle
Cai
WargamesInsomniac (James)
Jonluke
Reedar
Nat

Wannabe Chaos:
Tompkin
Jon
Evil n Chaos
Bengar

Either Side:
Ryan

That leaves 4 places presuming everyone on this list can make it. I will finalise dates within the week.

I've just downloaded the Battle for Armageddon Board Game and will be working on creating a nicely photoshopped and lined up board in the next few weeks that will be printed out on vinyl or some other material: it's gonna be big!
Additionally I've got lot's of cool new fluff on the War so amongst other things you can expect to see custom built/bought boards and figures such as:
-Helsreach Space and Sea Port
-Khornate Chaos Seige Engines and Towers
-The Grey Knights and Inquisitor Horst
-Holy Custodian Warlord Titan
-Angron!
-Logan Grimnar!
-Large Factory Complex's for you to do battle over!
-Inner Hive Battle Board!
-Imperial Defense Lines and Hive Walls
-Imperial Titan Legion
-And More!!!

Quick question- I know for 3rd war for Armageddon we have force listings in Codex Armageddon/EA rulebook. What information do we have for 1st war for Armageddon?

I am most interested in which Titan Legions participated in 1st war. What Legio were you planning on painting up for the event?

Cheers

James

Sign me up.

Imperial - Ill be using Guard, the same as WW.

I may have finished my Chaos by then but it is far from guaranteed and they are Red Corsairs anyway which is a little off timelinewise.

Just to clarify, is the friday a full day or just evening? As ill need to book time off.

Sorry Horatio! I didn't add you to begin with!

The Friday will be an evening of prelimary games: probably some dropship insertions/scouting missions/raids/cult uprisings. I'm thinking of playing it as 2000pt minegeddon battles on pre-defined scenery and objective boards: it'd be a relaxed evening of games and beer and each mission would allow a SMALL advantage to the winning side.

James: Fluff wise (from what I'm aware) these are the armies that took part:
-1 company of Grey Knights
-Multiple Imperial Guard Armies (I suggest we split our guard armies into Regiment Types: I.e. Tank Regiment, Foot Regiment, Aircav Regiment, Seige Regiment)
-PDF/Militia (these will be taken account of by defending the hive walls, they'll essentially be counters, they're too poorly equipped and trained to fight in the ash wastes)
-The Space Wolves
-Legio Tempestor and Legio Victorum have been long been stationed on Armageddon so I'd presume it would be them...(this may make me rethink my paint scheme!)

on the chaos side of things:
-Forces of the World Eater's United: Red Khornate (ish) marines. Other Cult Forces acceptable as allies but seeing as Angron is in Charge...!
-Civialian Uprisings/Cults (i.e. LatD lists)
-Daemons (doubt this is practical as an army)
-Chaos Titan Legion (unknown)...but probably Khornate!

Interstingly enough I can provide (in additon to what players bring):
-5k of World Eaters
-5k of Khornate Lost and the Damned
-5k of Imperial Titans
-All the Seige Troops we need to man the lines!

So that's over 20k of Troops already!

I know that Bengar has about 3-4k more of World Eaters...what does Everyone else think they'll bring that will fit into the above lists?

I'm intrigued to hear EnC's plans for his Chaos Titan Legion :-)...Might save me some work!

What I'm considering is that we see how many points each side has of nicely painted models and once we have all players paid up and ready organise an emailing list/session that will allow forces to be organised and deployed.

This is what I have on the 2 Titan Legions you listed (I think courtesy of Nealhunt):

Legion: Legio Tempestor (Storm Lords)
Emblem: ?
Colors: ?
Princeps: ?
Forge World: Esteban III
Notes:
Sources: Armageddon3.com, Imperial Armor

Some confusion as to whether this is the same as Legio Tempestus that was mnetioned in BL Horus Heresy Titanicus and Mechanicum novels (Legio Tempestus had Cobalt blue & silver colour scheme.

(To further confuse matters there was a traitor Titan legion called Storm Lords whose colour scheme was Blue, grey (silver?), black/white check trim. These were in Codex Titanicus, 1st Edition & WD 161)

I did look at these when thinking of colour schemes but decided best to stay clear due to conflicting info.

Legion: Legio Victorum (Foe Slayers)
Emblem:
Colors: Blue, yellow trim
Princeps:
Forge World: Galatia*
Notes: First titan was Primus Malachi, Reaver class. Older titans have bronze trim.
Sources: TL Codex Titanicus, 2nd Edition; Armageddon3.com, Imperial Armor

Another source I have seen states that emblem is "Possibly fisted gauntlet on blue field (similar to Imperial Fists)". I think Onyx painted up his Titans as Legio Victorum.

I hope this helps

James

put me down provisionally for around 4-5k of Steel legion/generic mechanised guard.... I will have to test this plan on my wife and monitor her shrieks of annoyance at my tying wargaming into a family holiday, if they reach the level where my ears begin to bleed, I'll let you know that she's not giving me permission to attend.......
