At that price count me in.

What army lists are going to be allowed? Book only? SG Official? TacComs Official?

At present, I am more concerned with making sure that we can house people from outside London at a reasonable price. Army lists will come later, though we usually go for the "SG Official" ones. However, with Jervis and Andy involved in vetting changes proposed in the "Handbook", this final competition details may well change before June. ?:)

I'd like to see a select list of experimental lists allowed, but would understand it if the first london tournament was to be as approachable as possible.

I suspect Zombocom wanted to bring his (Very pretty) Necrons.

Gavin, would it be an option to run 2 seperate events, Saturday as the main tournament and Sunday as a more relaxed afair with experimental lists allowed?

I think that's an excellent idea.

Indeed it could take a tournament format, it would be just not quite as 'official' as the saturday tourny. hmmm I might like to bring a Gargant Big mob along...

This sounds like a fantastic idea!

Day 1 - Official lists tournament.
Day 2 - Experimental lists tournament.

Just to temper things a bit.

Day 2 experimental lists, but each player should bring an authorised list so that we can play experiment vs standard to allow for balanced comments to be generated.

I could see myself turning up with Pink Black Legion on the saturday and Emperors Children on the sunday.

Tim I agree that playing approved vs experimental would be best.

I'm not certain you could guarantee that if you wanted to run a proper tournament under the swiss(?) system on day 2.

Each player would be prepared to play both his official, and unnoficial lists during the tournament.
When you work out who plays who, you just toss a coin or something to see which opponent plays official and which doesn't....???

At present, I am open to any suggestions and guidance, but won't be making any decisions for some time yet.

"Experimental" Sunday
I think the recent "informal" Sunday session up in Mansfield went very well and see this as a logical extension. This would also potentially allow us to hold two separate competitions and have entries accordingly. It would also satisfy those who only wanted a single day competition (though I think we will only provide one set of trophies for the "official" day before any of you trophy hunters get your hopes up :p )

Army size
Regarding Army size, experience in Britcon has suggested that 4,000 point games are viable given around 3 hours+ playing time, which is a definite possibility. ?However, though I also agree with Dave's point about "bar time", and as the first London competition 3,000 points may be better.

Terrain
I will need you guys to bring along some terrain. As a suggestion, could you state if you can bring 14 pieces along for a single table (2 spare to allow a little choice). If enough people show an interest, we could then have a separate award for the best terrain, and people should have sufficient time to create something sensational that you can then use for your own games :) ??

As I say, keep the comments and suggestions coming.

I reckon I have enough to supply that. ~10-ish buildings, plus 2 woods and a couple of bunkers.
