Well here is my feeble effort at commentary. (You will note my poor painting prevents photos and has left my house looking a mess).
So first up my chaos faced the hated marines and Tim. Having been utterly stamped on by his elder at our last meeting, I was less than inspired. This turned out to be an act of wanten cowardice. I pretty much sat back in the corner whilst he threw everything at me to make me leave. Unfortunately the plan went awry when I lost both of my titans and most of my mobility to his terminators; firstly a ground assault with the thunderhawk, then first activation in turn two. From there on out I was in trouble. I got rid of the pesky terminators and began to look for any hope of a draw. A combination of the defilers, some dodgy rhino driving by a central cabal, and the sling shot trick with the greater demon, some how allowed me to keep the blitz contested through turns three and four, and I took a lucky draw against a far better player.
Following this I was happy to see an Eldar though in Gavin (note Eldar not elder). The horror reinforced chaos infantry did a good turn here, being the wall of hardness that works so well for them, and when the doomwing splattered his Vampire (so much better than against thunderhawks), I had a pleasant run in. Poor luck really didn’t help my opponent, whom took it all in exceptional grace and affirmed that poor dice was nothing new.
If I felt the chaos gods were smiling, I had forgotten just how thickle they are, as I was again faced with Richards Necrons. Yes, the same army that had pulled me down to earth when I was doing so well in Leicester last year and thrashed 5-0 out of me. A rematch I wanted as much as Napoleon wanted another march on Moscow. Remembering my heroics against Tim [as in lack there off] I promptly nailed myself to a corner, downright refusing to come out and play. As usual my towers were annilated in the first few activations, but my titans and over watching defiliers managed to scare the nasty robots away and kill a few monoliths. Probably around this stage some efforts to try and win wouldn’t have gone a miss, but I’ve only just finished rehab since the last time. Richard however is not swayed by cowardice and eventually found a gap into the blitz. Some good dice kept me alive a little bit longer than should have been and there was certainly a feeling of what could have been when I saw his monoliths all but reduced to dirt. Just a few better placements and a better memory of the objectives…. Still no shame in the days results and a pleasure to learn from three very experienced opponents.

@ Dan, great write up. Must play you sometime just to get a mention in your dispatches ! :-)

@Apoc - those are my guard about to get smashed by Redar's orks. Its a laughably simple scheme which I'm especially embarrassed to reveal after getting voted best army! :-)

Its simply Army Painter grey spray, GW fortress grey followed by white dry-brush, then strong tone wash, followed by a patchy wash over the whole model with an old GW flesh wash for dirt.

Green on the SSds is 1990s GW strike green. Btw if anyone knows currently available equivalent (particularly a spray) my strike green is nearly dry and i have a lot of leman russ to paint...

The gargant is an old friend of mine's who (despite much encouragement) refuses to post his pics up on Taccoms. It is really cool.

Take a look at Cote's de Arms for old GW paint shades.

Thanks Meph. Unfortunately Strike green was one of a set of cammo colours which was only in a very limited release box set released to epic. Doesn't seem popular enough for coat d'arms to have kept producing.

Well, after a several month Real Life imposed hiatus from the hobby, I was nice to be back in action.
In fact things have been so busy I simply went with the list I took to the Expo, as it was still in the case haven't not been unpacked!

It was great to see such a big turn out, and a word of thanks to Steve54 for running and Dark Sphere for hosting us.

Thanks also to AndyH, Steve54 and Blip for three great games.

Will post up some of the pics that I managed to take in a bit...

Cheers
Reedar

P.S. roll on the GT... :)

This is one of my 'favourite' pics from the day.....

This is the exact location that Steves orbital bombardment came down, first activation of the first turn... Things went down hill from this point...
