On a different note, I am not sure the Eldar "Transport" upgrade is worded correctly. It seems to suggest that the player pays 50 points per Wave Serpent, and then pays a further 75 points to replace it with two Falcons. Surely the intention was to make Falcons cheaper, not much more expensive.

And why the restriction to warhosts? Smaller Aspect troupes are fine in Falcons, even at 50 points per Falcon. Sure it does provide another 'shooty' formation, but Falcons have the weakest tank armour in the game, and at a minimum of 550 points for 6x Aspects they are rarely going to be used because of the risks associated with losing even one vehicle.

As it is, Aspects in Falcons are never taken, and making them more expensive just exacerbates the problem.

tbh i thought there was only 1 transport option for Aspects, and it's called the Vampire - that's certainly the only one i've ever seen at least ;)

I'm not sure i'd be particularly keen on using falcons for anything other than a cheap(ish) anti-tank and AA unit really, given it would end up likely the BTS in an Eldar army and it's hardly that durable! I'd presume though it's in effect an extra 25pts for the Falcons above the cost of the Wave Serpent, as otherwise it makes no sense.

Oh, and for anyone considering AMTL - other than of course Ebay there's always the behemoth and baby behemoth from Exodus Wars, and i gather they're planning a medium sized one soon :)

Previously it was 65pts for each Falcon in the Aspect formation, so two were 130pts.

Now it is 50pts for the WS which is then replaced with 2 Falcons for a further 75pts, grand total 125pts for 2 Falcons. No increase in cost here, just a balancing of point values to make the option more viable.

Re-read the Saim Hann Mounted Aspect warrior troupe. It is 400 points for 6x Aspects in 3x Wave Serpents. And then a further 75 point per pair of Falcons, or 625 for the entire troupe in Falcons!

So it is written as intended and totally nonsensical :eh

[Tongue in cheek]

Ahh, I begin to understand. The Eldar 'nerfs' were written by someone who wanted to introduce the AMTL list . . . . . . :D

And given the above drooling responses, just watch the ebay prices soar . . . ;D

Tim, thanks for the explanation, though I am not sure this is much of an incentive - as RL says, there are much better choices out there. Dropping the cost to 50 points per Falcon might be an inducement, but that is still 550 points for the complete formation, which given their fragility is not worth the equivalent of two empty Falcon formations with AA. . . !

Falcons being more expensive as an upgrade than they are as an independent formation is obviously rubbish.

Changing from Initiative 2 to 1 of course has no effect on their cost at all. ;)
