hey i know this has probably been asked before but how many partisans to a kabal formation can i take.

Kabal of Pain’s Way Dark Eldar formations come in two types: kabals and partisans. Each kabal you include in the army allows you to field any two partisan formations. Although you can only take a partisans formation if you first take a kabal, they are treated as separate independent formations during a battle and do not have to move around together.

Dark Eldar Partisans

(Each kabal you include in the army allows you to field any three partisans. Each formation may never exceed more than eight infantry units.)

I have always used 3 partisans per kabal. I never really read the intro blurb quite in detail.

I just went by the specific rules in the army selection, which is why I take 3 Partisans per Kabal. Although most lists will take between 1 and 2 per kabal depending upon their plans and tactics.

I took more than 2 per kabal for the Castle Assault list. I had 2 x Reavers, a Talos with Slavebringer transport, Haemonculi coven and a Heavy Barge for 2 Flotillas. I also had 2 Raven Squadrons. I was experimenting with Fearless units and Perditor Artillery.

Considering the flexibility and upgrades available to the Kabal choices, compared to the other Eldar lists (of which two have two per and two have three per), I'd wager it was supposed to be two. If nothing else I'd also rely on the main body text than a list note being correct.

It's 2. Three is likely a C&P error from the Eldar list. I'll fix it when I'm back at work on Monday.

G'day,
The Army compendium says that partisans per Kabal.
(You may include up to two Partisan formations for each Kabal, chosen from the following: Covens, Cults, Cohorts. Formations may never exceed eight infantry units)

But the tourney pack has three per kabal.
(Each kabal you include in the army allows you to field any three partisans. Each formation may never exceed more than eight infantry units.)

I have always used two when building a list - or at least thought it was. But I also rely on the Brumbaer army builder, which is 3, so I cant really be certain what rule I was employing...

The new draft will have it as two.

Cheers,
Jim
