Don't worry, if the list continues to appeal to me this much, I'll be buying myself one soon ;D

I just need to find a lot more Chaos Squats!

I have three at the moment, and if the list turns out the way I expect it to with this being a single purchase in a 3000 point force, then I will potentially have a spare.

Just keep that in mind.

Cpt. Drill (Warseer) currently has the list and is going to see what he likes and dislikes about it. He will come back to me with more of his vision for the list. I think that is great as it means the development does not get stuck in a rut, nor is it 'wishy-washy due to 'too many cooks'. When it is finally released, I am hoping that it will be an enjoyable list.

Here is the vision I have been given so far by Cpt Drill:

Quote:
My thoughts on how the Chaos Squats battles would look like would be... (This is a mix of fluff and in game stuff)

Spot the enemy army
Turn 1
Move out units of meatshields to key locations (Possibly garrisoning)
Open fire with some giant pieces of artillary (Some Warmachines with BP)

Turn 2
Meatshields advance and try to tie up formations/die horribly
Then the strike forces would move in.
Units such as Bikers/Buggies would attack flanks
Heavy war engines would attack the middle (Possibly carrying Chaos Squats)
Large armoured transport copters would drop elite slaves/mercs and Chaos Squats into key locations.

Turn 3
Chaos Squats would all dig in
Slave will probably all be dead by this point
Hopefully all the objectives are secure and its time to go back to base for a nice cool Chaos Ale.

If it is good and accepted, I am really aching to see about those "Large armoured transport copters". There is definitely potential for some awesome modelling for this idea.

:)

To start : Sorry about the quality of the comparison pic, but all I had was my phone camera at the time.

What are people's thoughts on the vehicles I am considering for the Chaos Squats? I have in mind the larger size for mining sized vehicles (chaos squats like bigger and better monster versions in my view). Here they are:

Here is the comparison pic (troops pictured are squat minis):

The Colossus is an aweful model for comparative size to DC, but I decided to have it in there anyway.

- I was thinking that if the small one was chosen, it would be DC 2 or 3 ? Transport 4 or maybe 6
- I was thinking maybe DC4 for the larger one? Transport 6 or maybe 8

Thoughts people? Do you like them? If so, which ones?
If not, why not?

Cheers....

The models themselves are ace. A tad big maybe, but they look sweet!

Agree they look a tad big, right size for the DC but wrong size for a vehicle that looks like that at this scale (looks like a buggy but has the size of a SHT)

That 2nd model (6 wheel) looks like it would be better suited as venator proxy to me (if it was smaller), are these matter prints?

I should have stated where they are from - silly me

They are from Old Crow Miniatures; their 15mm range

Looking at it you are probably right. In Epic things always appear to be smaller than they should be (Leviathan, Rhino etc.) compared to the bases they are meant to carry. I guess I have gone the other end and they are too big.

I guess I just have to keep looking. These may just have to suit for 'home games' rather than be representative of any finalised list then :(

:)

What about using the engine from a land train with the top turret removed for transport and a large pointed dozer or assault ramp on the front instead of the gun? perfect for ploughing through hordes of unruly slaves and enemies alike.

Hmm... Just curious if this is still in the works. I've got a bunch of concept art for a version of Chaos Squats I intended to use for 40K (using the Tyranids book), and realized I'm really not enough of a sculptor to flesh anything out. A few actually mimic very closely some of your test minis... or rather, a centaurian type and a daemonic hound. Beyond that I guess the differences mount up quickly. Ha. Anyway, interested in seeing more on your list, Frogbear. You put a lot of effort into 'em for sure.

Hi eypyeash

It definately is in the works and going strong in the EA Chaos Section here: Chaos Squats

Hopefully the list and talk on there meets all your needs :)

Edit: I had the wrong link above. It should be corrected now. Just in case
